Community Service Projects
Donation of Stationary to Jaffna students
Date : January 23rd

Avenue : Community Service
Description : Our members collected Rs. 20,000 worth of stationary and donated it to the students of Jaffna. Our Staff advisor, Mrs. Sureschandra personally visited the schools and distributed the stationary amongst the children. Books, Pens, Pencils, Erasers, Instrument Boxes etc. were donated.

Description : We continued to clean the school hall before weekly assembly held on Wednesdays, and before important events.

- Trip to the Zoo for orphans – Joint project with Presidents college

‘Stuff u should know’ letter to new Interactors
Date : February 25th

Description : We created a informative letter named ‘What u should know’. This letter had much info including basic interact facts and the structure of ‘Interact’. We also made sure all interactors learnt the Interact Invocation and Pledge of allegiance to the national flag of Sri Lanka.
Special meeting for new Interactors

Description : We held a special meeting for the new interactors to help them understand what exactly Interact is and what they are expected to do in the future.

Description : Our Secretary who is also the webmaster of the Interact website updates the website almost everyday with new looks and most importantly with all the latest news about our club (upcoming & past projects etc.). We have had exchanges with foreign clubs as a result of this!

Description : We maintain the interact website created on the 3rd of September and update it almost everyday with the latest updates about our club. We have had various exchanges as a result of this!

Minutes of general meetings held in the 3rd quarter
Meeting held on the 10th of January 2002
Meeting commenced at 2:20 p.m. in the school hall with Int. Ritchie reading the Interact Invocation and Int. Mevan reading the pledge.
Int. Rehan Caffoor started off by welcoming all the members and wishing them a happy new year. He also stated that this quarter will be a tough one for interact since the sports meet and term tests are almost one after the other. He said they will try there best to carry out a few community service prejects, but no major projects would be done this quarter. He asked the junior interactors to come up with unique project ideas that they alone can carry out. A few suggestions were made, but Int. Rehan said that they will be discussing it later.
Then Mrs. Sureschandra informed all members about a donation of stationary for students of Jaffna. She stated that the response from the members were excellent when we held the ration donation project and that she is expecting the same response if not a better one.
Since there were no further matters to be discussed the meeting was adjourned at 3:45 p.m.
Meeting held on the 27th of January 2002
Meeting commenced at 2:30 p.m. in the school hall with Int. Kusal reading the Invocation and Int. Eshan reading the pledge.
Mrs. Sureschandra thanked all members who donated stationary for students of Jaffna and stated that the response was as good as last time. She informed the members that she personally visited the schools in Jaffna and distributed the stationary to the students.
A list of projects planned for the 4th quarter was read out by Int. Rehan. Organizing committees were also appointed.
Since there were no other matters to discuss the meeting was adjourned 3:15 p.m.
Meeting held on the 6th of March 2002
Meeting commenced at 2:20 p.m. in the school hall with Int. Kusal chairing the meeting since Int.Rehan was unfortunately not present. Int. David read the interact Invocationand Int. Ryan read the pledge.
Int. Kusal welcomed the new Interactors since this was their first meeting and stressed that discipline was invaluable if this club is to continue. Mrs. Sureschandra endorsed all that Int. Kusal had to say. Then Int. Kusal introduced the current board to the new interactors.
Int. Kusal invited Int. Chandika to give a brief description of the Wild Life awareness project to be held next term. Int. Chandika informed all members that the theme for the project will be ‘Talk animals, think action’ He also introduced the organizing committee for the project.
Then Int. Kusal invited Int. Nilanka to inform the members about the planned community service project to be done with the Interact club of Presidents college. He said that they have decided to take the orphans to a zoo, but an orphanage was not chosen as yet. He also said that all members are expected to participate in this project.
Then Int. Kusal informed all members about the project named ‘Cultural Crossroads’. He informed that this was a joint project done by our club, the Interact Club of Nalanda & the Interact club of St. Bridgets Convent. He said that it will be held on the 20th of April and that all members are welcome.
Since there no further matters to be discussed the meeting was adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
