The Nabisco Company has produced the Nilla Wafer for over 75 years! In the heat of a craving I decided to see if a relationship exists between the numbers of Nilla Wafers consumed as a function of the time since the eating began. After one ten minute binge, it was determined that a cookie lover could eat 25 of the wafers! Pigo…

a.) Assuming that the cookies were eaten at a constant rate determine a rule that gives the number of cookies eaten as a function of the time since the binge began.

b.) At this point any cookie lover would become thirsty! What goes better with the Vanilla Wafer than some wholesome skim milk. With 25 wafers I needed to drink 4 glasses of skim milk. Again assuming that the rate at which skim milk was desired increased at a constant rate, determine a rule that gives the amount of milk craved as a function of the number of cookies consumed. NOTE: With no wafers a cookie lover would need zero glasses of skim milk.

c.) How much milk would be craved if 100 wafer cookies were eaten?

d.) How long has the cookie lover been eating for in letter c?

e.) We know that the amount of wafers eaten is a function of the amount of time since the binge has begun. Furthermore we know the amount of milk craved is a function of the amount of wafers eaten. What then can we conclude?

f.) Write this relationship using the function machine model as discussed in class.

g.) Write a fully simplified algebraic expression that would give the relationship modeled in letter f.

h.) Write an expression that would give the total amount of food taken in by the cookie lover after t minutes. Be sure to fully simplify the expression for full credit. NOTE: Food is defined as anything that the stomach can digest…like milk and Nilla wafers.
