A.Course Description:

Integrated Advanced 7th Grade Science is a course designed to incorporate various aspects of biology and chemistry as well as the interactions between them. This class also allows the students to apply their understanding of both physical and biological sciences as they discover the relationships that exist. This curriculum is a modified version of our current 7th grade advanced curriculum. It is designed to maintain and exceed the level of rigor and enrichment needed for each student to learn scientific concepts as the highest possible level.

B. Class Supplies

1.IPAD

2.1 loose-leaf binder (to use as morning or afternoon binder)

3.Folder (3 holes) that remains in the science binder

4.Pen / pencil

5.Highlighter (any color)to remain in binder

C. Classroom Rules and Procedures

1.BE PREPARED FOR CLASS:

  1. Students must bring theirIPAD, notebook and a pen/pencil to class EVERYDAY! Not having your IPAD will result in deduction of points from your participation quiz grade.
  2. IPADS must be charged at home. Not having a charged IPAD in class will result in deduction of 2.5 points from your participation quiz grade.
  3. All worksheets, quizzes and tests MUST be placed in the folder.

2.Homework

  1. Homework can include textbook work, defining words, Castle Learning assignments, completion of laboratory assignments, projects, and STUDYING.
  2. Textbook assignments will be collected and graded between a score of 1 to 10.
  1. Homework must be submitted in ON TIME. Late homework WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED for credit. Three missing homework assignments will result in a phone call home.

3.LATENESS:

  1. Students are expected to arrive on time to class.
  2. Being late three times is equivalent to ONE CUT! This will result in a phone call home.
  3. Students must request makeup work the first day they return to school from an absence.
  1. CLASS BEHAVIOR: Students are expected to cooperate with all class and school rules. Inappropriate behavior WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
  2. Talking/cheating during exams or quizzes will result in a zero.
  3. Cell phones cannot be placed on student desks. They cannot be answered or used for texting during class.
  4. Students and parents are advised to check the student handbook for the appropriate dress code.
  5. EXTRA HELP: Extra help hours will be held before or after school on specified days and by appointment.
  6. PROJECTS:

Various projects throughout the year can include:

  1. Research on various topics
  2. Web Quests
  3. Creating models/drawings
  4. TAG projects

Report Card Formula

Tests: 70%

Quizzes and Labs: 20%

Homework: 10%

Eventually, Schoology will be used as access for class notes, homework assignments, review PowerPoints, etc…

Studying for tests and quizzes, completing all laboratory activities and Castle Learning assignments, handing in all homework on time and completed and staying organized will enable you to do very well in this class.

It’s up to you!!! I don’t give grades. You earn them!!!
