Visual Art I & II– Syllabus

Materials List:

These materials will need to be brought to class everyday!
Drawing Pencils
No# 2 Pencil
Black Ball Point Pen (medium)

Sketchbook (50 pages and no smaller than)

A folder with two pockets

Pencil Box to hold supplies.

Pencil sharpener (two hole, and hand held)
Erasers


Some of these materials are already in the Classroom Studio, however they will be shared among other students. More types of materials will be used in the class and provided to the students.

There will be other materials needed throughout the semester. An example of this is students will need photographs for portraits. Images of various reference materials (i.e., animals, objects. and buildings. However these materials will be needed later on for specific assigned projects.


Only Projects will be accepted Late for grade consideration.

Projects may also be re-submitted for a better grade. NO LATE PROJECTS will be accepted after the Term grades! *

1. Getting to class on time demonstrates Respect for the course content, the teacher and your peers. Missed time in the class studio is difficult to reproduce or duplicate elsewhere. Missed class time will impact your assignment grade (under effort, use of time, and participation). 2. Students need to come to class, on time, prepared, and with all materials.

3. A Studio Grade is given every day. It is expected that all students will work on the assignments in class. Those students not participating or using the time in class on assignments are distractions and should not expect a grade.

4. Students must clean up their area and put away all materials. Students not completing this task will face a grade reductions (under use of materials, time and participation) and possible disciplinary actions if the conduct continues.

5. Respect and proper care of the materials provided, the equipment, and the projects of all students is required of every student.

6. In the case of an Extended or Long-term absence, alternative assignments will be given. Due to the nature of the course, materials, and the use of student observed guided practice within the Studio. When the prior assignment is submitted for grading the next sequenced alternative assignment will be given.

7. Electronic devise may only be used with the classroom instructor’s permission. This permission may only be granted in cases of photographic reference materials. Use without permission is prohibited and will affect your grade on the assignment in class.

Objective

Students will present 14 projects for review in the class. These projects may be from the assignments in class only. They may also include work from the sketchbook that represent quality effort. Sketchbooks are due every Wednesday with the required 3 sketches. Students who take the initiative to do more in their sketchbooks will receive extra credit.

The Teacher will document and provide feedback on the students’ work to the class of students. The Goal is to provide supportive growth to each student, and a possible path for expanding ideas.

Students may be asked to present their completed work to the class for discussion.

Review and discuss the requirements for ending of the term as well as requirements for what is expected for the AP Studio Art Program.
