Course Description:

This course is designed for new users who want to become proficient with Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 5.0 as quickly as possible. You will focus on learning core-modeling skills in this comprehensive, hands-on course. Topics include sketching, part modeling, assemblies, drawings, and basic model management techniques. The course also includes a comprehensive design project that enables you to practice your new skills by creating realistic parts, assemblies, and drawings. After completing the course you will be well prepared to work effectively on product design projects using Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, you be able to:

  • Understand standard drawing practices.
  • Understand PRO-ENGINEER editing features.
  • Understand how to properly dimension objects in intelligible forms.
  • Understand how to view, and dimension three-dimensional objects.

Course Requirements:

Attendance – Attendance is mandatory. Lectures, videos, and class discussions will contain vital information needed to do well on the exams. Be on time, three “late” arrivals will result in one “nonattendance”.

Exams: There will be TWO exams (this includes the final exam), each worth 100 points. Exams will be based on text readings, handouts, class exercises, videos, and class lectures and discussions. Students are responsible for all text material, regardless of whether we review the text material in class or not.

Missed Exams: You will be allowed to make up a missed exam only if you have adocumented university excused absence.

Assignments: Homework will be assigned every Monday; there will be a lab assignment every Monday. They will be due one week later in class. The homework and lab should be submitted through BLACKBOARD

Grades will be based on:

Attendance 5%

Homework and lab 20%

Midterm Exam 30%

Final project 10%

Final Exam 35%

Grade Distribution

90-100 = A

80-90 = B

70-80 = C

60 - 70 = D

Below 60 = F
