3. Completed applications will be reviewed by the appropriate Conservancy staff. If there are questions or concerns we will call or e-mail you.
4. A research permit from TNC does not supercede other necessary research permits required by other agencies. It is the obligation of the researcher to identify and obtain any other local, state or federal permits or approvals. Other permits you may need include:
· State Preserves Permit: Contact the State Preserves Advisory Board if you propose to work in a state preserve (www.iowadnr.com/preserves).
· Scientific Collector’s Permit: Contact the Iowa DNR if your research involves any sort of collecting plants or animals, especially threatened or endangered species (http://www.iowadnr.gov/license/prof.html ). (TNC generally only permits once specimen of each species to be collected for voucher or identification purposes. Collection of seeds and plants for restorations, gardens or terraria is generally not permitted.)
5. A permit is required for all research on land owned or leased by TNC, regardless of whether collecting is involved or funds are provided by TNC. If you are unsure if a permit is required, please contact us!
6. Early submission of your completed application is strongly advised. The turn-around time varies from a few days to up to a month or more depending on the complexity of the request, necessary reviews, workloads and other factors.
