INSTRUCTIONS - PERFORMANCE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Establish goals with corresponding objectives that are specific, measurable, relevant, and time-based. Metrics are to be developed for each objective to establish clear measurement criteria which will be used in the assessment of performance and achievement.

Performance year goals may be related to an area of responsibility, a professional development need, a performance improvement need, a special project, or other goals deemed appropriate by the supervisor. A goal may be added that is specific to a UC Core Competency, or each goal may be mapped to one or more competency. Detailed information about each competency can be found on the HR website.

These goals and objectives should be updated as needed throughout the performance year. Performance evaluations should include consideration of successful completion of goals and objectives. These goals may be ordered or ranked by criticality if appropriate.

You may cut and paste on this form to add as many goals and objectives as needed. However, it is recommended that no more than three to four overall goals be established each performance year to keep them attainable and realistic.

When developing goals, you should consider the SMART criteria. Achievable goals are:
