Instructions for Resubmitting Quizzes for Higher Grades

Instructions for Resubmitting Quizzes for Higher Grades

1.  You must have your graded quiz at hand to revise it. Obviously you cannot revise a quiz that you not submit and receive a grade on. You can submit a quiz late to receive a grade by the deadline for revised quizzes. However, if you fail to turn in more than one quiz on time, this privilege will be revoked.

2.  Revise your graded quiz using a new copy of the original quiz. As you did on the original, follow instructions on the quiz paper for answering questions.

3.  On the revised quiz, answer ONLY the questions that you want regraded. Leave blank questions that you do not want regraded.

4.  As in the original quiz, please do not reformat the revised quiz file. Keep you answers within the limits of the outlined tables provided.

5.  When you submit your revised quiz

a.  Staple the revised quiz on top of the original quiz.

b.  You MUST provide the original quiz to receive a grade on a revised quiz: NO EXCEPTIONS. It is not possible to regrade a paper when I don’t have the original at hand.

6.  The revised quiz must be submitted not later than 1700 on the Monday following the class when the original graded quiz was returned.

7.  Place your revised quiz (stapled on top of the original quiz) in my faculty mailbox in the Air Science Department by the resubmission deadline. Faculty mailboxes are located in the kitchen area of the department off the East-West hall where faculty offices are located. My mailbox is located ABOVE my name.

8.  You should revise any quiz that you don’t receive an “A” grade on the first time you take it. The idea of resubmission is that you will make additional effort to learn what you didn’t understand the first time. This approach to learning is called mastery learning. Mastery learning is fundamental to success in AS471. You need to know everything taught in the course when you go fly the Decathlon to show your competence and professionalism as a pilot facing serious upset situations.

9.  Please follow these instructions carefully and without fail. Regrading quizzes to support mastery learning involves a lot of effort on my part as well as on your part. It’s very hard to accommodate students who fail to submit revised quizzes in a timely fashion.

10.  Thanks in advance for working hard to learn in AS471 and for following instructions about revising quizzes. When you do so, it makes it much easier for me to handle the high AS471 grading load.
