Learner Characteristic Assignment

The assignment to take the three learning experience tests gave me a better outlook on the way I perceive myself as a student and as a learner. The diagnostic tests asked questions that focused on making everyone aware of the characteristics that impact to your future approach to being a student or a teacher. The three tests, Multiple Intelligence (MI), Emotional Test (EI), and the Kiersy Temperament Test all measured different things and gave a very descriptive listing of characters that go along with the questions that were asked.

The Multiple Intelligence Test provided me with an assessment of my strengths and weaknesses when talking about the eight styles of learning. The eight styles of learning is an important key to a teacher’s success getting students to comprehend the curriculum. I defiantly agree with the results of my test and I think that I was measured accurately as possible. Many of the questions that were asked, had solutions to choose from that I would use when trying to solve the problem or attempting to get someone to understand my point of view and education on a particular topic. I am going to be a Physical Education teacher, so having a higher rating in the Body/Kinesthetic style. That is why as a learner I comprehended better when having classes that had a lot of hands on experience. Because I believe that I did learn better by experience instead of lecture.

The next test was the Emotional Intelligence Survey, which asked questions that were related to how you would act in certain situations such as a colleague taking credit for work that you have started and giving no recognition in a team or board meeting. These questions were not something that I gave a lot of though to before, but after thinking about these situations it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to have solutions ready and available so that communication is not lost with colleagues. My score was a 90 out of a 100 which is hypothetically is ten points than the maximum possible. The test also gave me a new look on problems that a teacher faces everyday in the class. The questions on the test focused mainly on how to be a leader and act professionally among colleagues. I thought test made sense and really made me think about how I would react to the situations. Many of the characteristics matched teaching style, not being over bearing and obnoxious but giving my best advice and ideas when trying to come up with a solution to a problem.

The last test was the Kiersy Temperament Report investigated and asked questions that explain the views of individuals on how to go about everyday life and how to be successful in the work place or in society in general. The results of my test stated that my temperament was a Guardian, a corner stone for society. After reading the results of the test, I defiantly agree that having a natural talent in managing goods and being able to incorporate different skills to keep things running smoothly and keeping children excited about learning and being in school. Also being a corner stone for society means making things happen nice for families, communities, churches, hospitals and businesses. Being able to establish when to have fun and when to take care of priorities is a quality that a guardian possesses. Many of the characteristics listed fit my personality and how I go about handling people and events in my life.
