INSTANT SUNSHINE CHARITY MUSIC CONCERT

IN SUPPORT OF THE

TROPICAL HEALTH & EDUCATION TRUST

Monday, 25th February 2008

Peter Christie David Barlow Alan Maryon-Davis

With Tom Barlow on Bass

Come to the College for music and a drinks reception, and contribute to an excellent cause. We would like to invite you to a charity concert featuring Instant Sunshine, which comprises three College Fellows and their base player, who write and perform their own music. Using hilarious self-parody, the songs take a sideways look at everyday events and are performed in an understated but very funny style.

For every ticket sold, £20 will go to the Tropical and Health Education Trust (THET), which helps UK health institutions form partnerships with the developing world, to fight disease and neglect. THET partners the RCP in supporting teaching and training in sub-Saharan Africa. If you would like more information or want to make a donation, please visit THET’s website:

Instant Sunshine have written and performed many signature tunes for a variety of radio and television programmes including Oneupmanship, One is Fun, Money Box, Constant Hot Water, and for their own series of Jackanory. Several Instant Sunshine series on BBC radio and a number of these recordings are in the BBC archive and have been included on compilation CDs.

It was the long association with BBC Radio 4’s Stop the Week that gave Instant Sunshine the opportunity to reach a wide audience but it is in their live concerts that their talents are fully appreciated both in cabaret and in theatre. They particularly enjoy the intimate venues but have had audiences in the Albert Hall singing along at Christmas concerts, and a packed house at Chichester Cathedral shouting for more.

They play regularly at festivals and theatres throughout the UK and have delighted audiences on their travels round the world to New York, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and Bermuda where they returned for the Millennium Festival. On their first appearance to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe over 30 years ago they were voted ‘Hit of the Fringe’ and return regularly to this wonderful carnival to savour the delights and meet old friends.
