STUDENT LEADER JOBS FOR MAY begin on Wednesday, May 1, 2013. We are excited to have our May student leaders begin working their school wide leadership jobs on Wednesday, May 1. SBDM NOMINATIONS:Parents interested in running for SBDM Council should have their nomination form in by May 2. Elections will be on Friday, May 10.
PTO ELECTIONS for the 2013-2014 school year will be held alongside SBDM elections on May 10th during the following times: 7:45-8:30 am, during lunch for all grades at the bulldog store, 2:30-3:30 pm. Attached you will find the application for Vice President of the Rich Pond PTO which is the only position open for the upcoming school year. If you are interested in applying, applications are due to the school by Tuesday, May 7th during school hours.
ESS-The last day for ESS will be this Tuesday, April 30th from 3:15-4:15. ESS will resume again next school year.
EXTRA YEARBOOKS are now on sale for $25.00 each. We only have a limited number, so get one while you can.
NOTES AFTER AN ABSENCE: Please remember to send in notes after a child’s absence even if you call to let us know. We must have written documentation. Also, remember that we can excuse up to 10 days with an appropriate parent note. After 10, a doctor’s note is required in order for the absence to be excused.
VERY IMPORTANT: KINDERGARTEN PRE REGISTRATION: Kindergarten pre-registration for 2013-2014 is coming up April 29 – May 3 at Rich Pond. It is very important that kindergarten students pre-register. We have staffing and budget decisions that depend upon kindergarten numbers. In addition, those who pre-register are sure to be included in kindergarten orientation activities. If you know of other families with kindergarten age children, encourage them to enroll as well. Finally, if you have friends or acquaintances who ask you about attending Rich Pond out of district, please let them know that since we are being cut teaching units for next year, we will be unable to take any out of district students beyond WCBOE employee children or those who already attend. Currently enrolled preschool students do not need to participate in kindergarten registration because they are already enrolled in our school.
PRESCHOOL PRE-REGISTRATION for the 2013-2014 school year will be April 29-May 3. Your Child May Be Eligible for Preschool If… Your child will be four years old be October 1, 2013 and meets income eligibility guidelines, OR Your child will be three or four years old and has a disability or delay. There will be a limited number of tuition spots for children who do not meet other eligibility criteria. These are available on a first come, first serve basis. MUSIC ROOM NEEDS -The music room has acquired an iPod Classic. If anyone has gotten a newer edition iPod and you are no longer using a docking station/amplifier for the classic, the music room would LOVE to have it!!!
DONATIONS NEEDEDMrs. Lim's and Mrs. Gipson's class is requesting donations for large garden pots. Their class is working on beautifying the courtyard as their service learning project. Thanks for your support!
CAMP INVENTION-Rich Pond Elementary will once again host Camp Invention this summer from June 10th-14th. K-5th grade students are encouraged to enroll in this exciting weeklong camp filled with curiosity and fun! The STEM areas of science, technology, engineering, and math are all used while having fun! KPREP TESTING DATES Dates for the spring administration of the KPREP tests for students in grades 3-6 have been set. KREP assessments will be administered on Wednesday, May 8th thru Tuesday, May 14th. All test sessions will begin promptly at 8:30 and will take most of the morning. Students in 5th grade will also be testing on Wednesday, May 8th in the afternoon.
SWMSLady Spartan Open Gym for SpringAny girl interested in trying out for SWMS Lady Spartan Basketball team for the 2013/2014 season, you are invited to our spring open gym sessions. We will begin right after spring break, and will have open gym every Tuesday and Thursday (with the exception of April 18-we will have it on April 19 instead) starting April 8 through May 21 from 2:30 (or as soon as you can get to SWMS) - 4:30. The dates are April 9, 11, 16, *19*, 23, 25, 30, May 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, and 21.

FRC NEWS Hope for the HomelessThe Realtor Association of Southern Kentucky, Inc. is collecting canned goods, non-perishables, hygiene items, paper goods, food that kids can open and eat by themselves, and cash for HOTEL INC and FAMILY RESOURCE CENTERS AND YOUTH SERVICES CENTERS. Please drop off donated items and/or money at the grassy lot beside South Central Bank on Campbell Lane from April 26th – April 29th. Your donation makes a difference in a child’s life.
