Job Purpose
The Project Manager willbe responsible for implementing ‘The Venue’, a contemporary Young People’s Café providing a range of diversionary activities. The task is to utilise funding already secured to create and deliver a social facility (The Venue) which allows young people to socialise, develop new skills and lead positive lifestyles, encouraging independent living.
The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that all deadlines and targets are successfully achieved. This includes, but is not limited to; creating the environment, recruitment, delivery of diversionary/educational activity andmonitoring impact and evaluation.
The Project Manager will prepare tasks and supervise two assistants and a host of volunteers. Importantly, they will prepare budgetsand analyze data in order to direct and control the outcome of this project.
The project manager must source additional funding, work closely with partner agencies and plan the sustainability of the project beyond its three year funded period.
Key Tasks and Activities:
Role Specific
- To oversee the project development of the Venue, ensuring that the initiative flourishes and all project outcomes are met.
- To manage the development of a building to ensure it is fit for purpose
- To managetwo part time staff and volunteers, including supervision and appraisals, including the monitoring of their workloads and ensuring effective use of their time. Overseeing staff holidays/toil, checking and authorising staff expenses etc.
- To ensure the effective development, management and delivery of the Venue’s activities, educational courses, mentoring support and services.
- To ensure the project adheres to the business plan and funding requirements.
- Attend local partnership meetings as required by the operations manager.
- To work with young people and support their needs in accordance with the ethos of the organisation.
- To work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure a joined up approach to young people’ services.
- To write and support funding bids.
- To lead on the monitoring and evaluation of the project.
- Ensure the correct policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to, this includes data protection, lone working, risk assessments and health and safety.
- If and when required, to adopt a hands on and problem solving approach to ensure the smooth running of day to day operations.
- To be a key holder and fire officer.
- To work in partnership with Me and My Learning to work towards sustainability beyond the initial three year funded period.

- Develop menu changes and ensure staff and volunteers are aware of changes, encourage their input.
- Review and communicate financial information to assist in proactive and timely decision making.
- Manage monthly stock takes and review results.
- Develop and maintain control systems in order to meet or exceed food and beverage margins.
- Control costs without compromising standards.
- Forecast sales and budgets with particular attention to labour forecasting
- To ensure staff and volunteers work hygienically, productively and identify hazards, taking corrective action.
