Event News

What: Inphi Corporation will showcase cutting-edge semiconductor component technologies designed to support future system needs for cloud computing, next-generation data centers and other high-performance applications. In particular, Inphi will focus on technologies that will reduce power consumption in data centers and cloud computing environments struggling to manage their burgeoning power costs.

Demonstrations: Inphi will demonstrate a recently validated low-power LV-GS02 DDR3 register technology that enables enterprise computing platforms to achieve higher memory capacity and bandwidth while using considerably less energy. The demo of the low voltage-compatible register, a member of Inphi’s ExacTik® family of server memory interface components, will offer compelling evidence of significant power savings.

In addition, Inphi will have a technology demonstration of the low-power LV-GS02 DDR3 register operating at 1866+ megatransfers/sec, showing maintenance of signal integrity even at this next-generation speed.

When: IDF 2009 will be held September 22 to 24.

Where: Inphi will be in Booth #321 at IDF 2009 at Moscone Center West, San Francisco.

Visit us at ECOC

What: At the European Conference and Exhibition on Optical Communication (ECOC) 2009, Inphi Corporation will provide information on its leading-edge interface components for 40G networks and its plans for 100G networks. Of special note will be details of Inphi’s and Sierra Monolithics’ first successful interoperability demonstration of a 40G modulator driver and multiplexer/clock multiplier unit (MUX/CMU) in surface-mount technology (SMT) – an important enabler for widespread 40G network adoption. Inphi representatives can also provide information about some of its next-generation technologies for 100G.

When: ECOC 2009 will be held September 20 to 24.

Where: Inphi will be in Booth #169 at ECOC 2009, in Vienna, Austria.

Updates from the ExacTik Team

Product Updates

  • Inphi GS04 register crosses 5Mu shipment mark
  • Inphi LV-GS02 receives Intel validation for 1.5V Intel Core-i7 based servers (see PR for web-posting)
  • Inphi LV-GS02 making good progress with 1.35V Intel validation – entering OEM qual phase,
  • Inphi will be at IDF 2009 – booth 321 Sep 22-24, showcasing Inphi’s low-power memory interface products
  • Inphi’s proprietary iMB making steady internalvalidation progress – marketing will coordinate allcustomer discussions with sales; no active promotion by sales at this time

Competitive Corner

  • IDT, TI and Inphi on track for Intel validation in Q4 for next-gen 1.35V Intel servers
  • Inphi LV-GS02 continues to be the lowest power register among the Intel validated products
  • IDT, Inphi on-track to sample JEDEC iMB by Q1 2010

Smaller players competitive Corner

  • Montage spinning register to new C1 version – will have to re-start qual process for 1.5V and 1.35V
  • Silego B0 versions claiming low power register, but not meeting IBT spec as a result

Updates from the High-Speed Analog Networking and Communications Team

High-Speed Analog Product Line Update

  • Inphi has demonstrated interoperability between its recently launched 2811DZ, a 40G DQPSK modulator driver in SMT packaging, and Sierra Monolithic’s SMI4029, a 40G MUX/CMU in SMT packaging. The demonstration paves the way for the rapid commercial development of 40G DQPSK systems based on lower-cost, smaller-form-factor SMT components. Inphi’s 2811DZ is now in Engineering Sampling with Tier-1 OEM and transponder customers. Production quantities are expected to be available in Q4’09.
  • Inphi 1385DX-S02 is a 12.5 Gbps 1:8 demultiplexer with the ability to synchronize to other 1385DX-S02 demultiplexers. The device has applications in automatic test equipment and radio receivers. The device is available for general customer sampling. The part is expected to be released to manufacturing in October 2009.

Competitive Corner

  • Inphi 4331TA TIA continues to be the only working 40G TIA for VSR applications.
  • Triquint sampled differential modulator drivers in SMT package, part no. TGA4958, to compete with Inphi 2811DZ. To sell against Triquint, need to emphasize the 2811DZ is the most mature product since it uses same die as the field-proven 2514DZ, which we have shipped over 3,000 pcs to date.
  • Gigoptix sampled a linear TIAs for 40 DQPSK and 100G Coherent Detection applications, part no. GX3220 and a 40G DQPSK differential modulator driver, part no. GX6261. GigOptix is burning cash rapidly and is in poor financial health, not a good viable supplier long term.

Presentations

  • Presentation at Q3 2009 Optical Internetworking Forum: Integrated Receiver Recommendations
  • Presentation at July IEEE 802.3ba Meeting: Stressed Receiver Sensitivity Tests
