NOTATION form adopted in this manual

Section numbers below correspond to those provided in the “INK JET PRINTER EBS-6000 USER'S MANUAL”

Modifications introduced to the contents of a section are highlighted at the beginning of the section with italics (the same font as in this sentence).

General Information

As different (two-headed, pigment-ink) printer types have been introduced, whose design and styling resemble or are based on the EBS-6000 printer, the printer nomenclature has also been changed. Now EBS6000is the name of a series of industrial ink-jet printers for non-contact labelling of various objects moving before it on a belt conveyor, for example.

EBS6002 is the name of a two-headed non-pigment-ink printer while EBS6002P is the name of a two-headed pigment-ink printer.

1.1.Application

In this section Fig. 1.1 has been changed:

Fig. 1.1.

2.2.2.Air supply system

In this section the Air Consumption parameter has been changed. Its settings are as follow:

Air Consumption:appr. 0.04m3/min.(40 l/min.) when an in-built vacuum pump is used;

appr. 1 litre/min. when an external vacuum pump is used.

3.Starting the Printer

In this section Fig. 3.1 has been changed:

Fig. 3.1.

3.1.Switching the printer on

In this section Fig. 3.1.1 and Fig. 3.1.3 have been changed:

3.2.2.Emergency and service shut-down

In this section Fig. 3.2.2 has been changed:

4.1.2.Internal panel

In this section Fig. 4.1.2.2 and Fig. 4.1.2.3 have been changed:

/ Vertical rows of diode indicators labelled LED1, LED2 are described on the left of them. Description of the condition when the lamps light (are on) is given further on.

Fig. 4.1.2.3.LED3 and LED4 diode indicators (for valves, relays, etc.)

4.2.2.Operating the printer with control MENU

In this section we have changed figures where the Printer Operation MENU structure is defined:

4.3.Print head status

In this section Fig. 2.3.4 and a description before it have been changed:

The print head runs properly when ink jet is properly broken into droplets, the droplets are properly charged and the stream of redundant droplets falls into a gutter thereby ensuring that the phase measurement signal is correct. Therefore vital performance parameters are permanently measured within the print head. The parameters, composing the so called printhead status, are displayed in the Printer Status window on the terminal display. The print-head status is updated on an on-going basis and displayed in the form of a block of various characters, whose meaning would be described further on.

For two-headed printers, the Printer Status window shows the full status of one head at a time only. To choose which status to display, use the keys in the special function key pad. The keys have the following meaning:

  • When you press the key once, status for print head No. 1 will be displayed; when you press it again, status for two print heads will be displayed.
  • When you press the key once, status for print head No. 2 will be displayed; when you press it again, status for two print heads will be displayed..

NOTE:

The PRINTON/OFF and INKON/OFF keys on the external panel perform their functions for the print head (or the print heads), whose status is shown on the display. Thus, in order to use the PRINTON/OFF key to start printing with print head No.2, you should first press the key to get the status for print head No.2 displayed in the Printer Status window and then start the printing with the PRINTON/OFF key.

If either the key or the key have been press twice to get the status displayed for two heads, and if the PRINTON/OFF (INKON/OFF) key is pressed, then the head status will change to the opposite one. For example, if print head No.1 is in the print state (see further on) while print head No.2 is in the stop state, and the PRINTON/OFF key is pressed, print head No.1 will stop printing while head No.2 will start printing.

A sample print-head status is given below.

4.4.3.Printing

In this section we have added a note on accessing the Print submenu for each head:

NOTE:The PRINTING submenu shows on the terminal display after one or all required print heads have been chosen.

Contents of the submenu vary with the number of print heads chosen - see section 4.2.2. Operating the printer with control MENU.

4.4.4.Servicing the print head

In this section we have added a note on accessing the Service submenu for each head:

NOTE:The SERVICE submenu shows on the terminal display after one or all required print heads have been chosen.

Contents of the submenu vary with the number of print heads chosen - see section 4.2.2. Operating the printer with control MENU.

4.5.Alarms, errors and signalling
