The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a resource and support organization that does not select, control, or supervise local chapter or individual member activities except as expressly provided for in the Delaware FCCLA constitution, bylaws, or policies.
Becoming a state officer of the Delaware FCCLA Association is a great accomplishment. Whether you win or lose, the process is a wonderful learning opportunity. Be sure to read this packet thoroughly and discuss it with your parents and adviser. Best of luck!
All members of affiliated high school chapters of the state association and the national organization have the privilege of making application for the State Executive Council for which the candidate meets the qualifications. Candidates will be running for a position on the State Executive Council, not a specific office.
It is very important that State Officer Candidates understand that much honor and responsibility accompanies their selection as a State Officer. Responsibilities includeattendance at required meetings as well as public relations activities and assigned duties. Advisers and parents are to work closely with any potential candidates and stress the commitment that is necessary to serve in this capacity. A financial commitment must also be understood by the officer candidate, the family, the adviser, and the local school district.
Each chapter maynominate a maximum of two (2) candidates.
State Officer Qualifications:
- Must be an active member of an FCCLA chapter.
- Must have taken or be enrolled in at least one family and consumer sciences class.
- Must be at least in the ninth grade.
- Must maintain a "C" average or better.
- Must be a role model of appropriate student behavior at school and in the community and demonstrate positive leadership skills.
- Must submit a completed application.
- Must have held a leadership role at local level (leadership role such as being a chairman of a committee, officer of a class organization, or chapter).
- Must display basic knowledge about the career and technical student organization of FAMILY, CAREER AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA.
- Attend Orientation/Interview on Wednesday, February 17, 2016.
State Officer Candidate Process
Nomination Phase
interested applicants complete an application and submit it to the State Adviser by the deadline
applicantswork to increase their knowledge of FCCLA and its programs and activities
applicants prepare a 2-minute presentation explaining why s/he wants to become a state officer
Interview Phase
applicants will complete a test of FCCLA knowledge, leadership strategies, and problem solving skills
applicants will make a prepared 2-minute presentation to a panel of interviewers.
applicants will answer a set of questions from a panel of interviewers
Notification Phase
Applicants will be notified if they have been selected to be a State Officer Candidate.
Voting Phase
Successful state officer candidates will present their 2-minute presentation at the Spring Conference.
Election Phase
Voting delegates will submit their votes at the State Conference. Installation of the State Executive Council will take place at the Awards Banquet during the Spring Conference.

Completed applications must be received by the FCCLA State Adviser in the Department Of Education office before the application deadline, February 8, 2016, for students to be considered candidates for state office. No late applications will be accepted. A completed application includes:
