The New Hospital Campaign

Information Leaflet and How YOU can help.

Thanks for picking up our leaflet. We are the new hospital campaign for West Herts, and we NEED YOUR HELP.

The local plan at the moment will result in the following:

  • Watford hospital will be extended further as the ONLY acute hospital
  • Remaining services in Hemel Hospital will be cut further
  • St Albans will only have a few non acute services
  • There will NOT be a new hospital ANYWHERE within the next 5-10 years.

We represent patients in the area and know that this plan can’t work.

The Watford site is in a congested corner of our area next to a premier league football club. The estate needs £100m of backlog maintenance and can’t be brought up to modern standards. We need a new hospital that everyone can get to, with enough space for parking and future expansion for us and generations to come.

We need you to join us in fighting for a new, purpose built hospital on a site that is more centrally located, and accessible to the three main towns of Hemel Hempstead, St Albans and Watford. Surveys have repeatedly shown that this is what patients want.

The current setup costs far more to run because it’s old and inefficient. As a result of this the NHS can’t do as much as it wants to. Building a brand new hospital on an out-of-town site near Junction 20 of the M25 would allow it to do more with the limited funding available.
