In response to your request regarding the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, as amended, legislation, please see Northampton Borough Council's (the Council) response detailed below in bold.

1) How many dogs have been seized by the council under Section One of the Dangerous Dogs Act in each year from 2000 to 2012?

8) How are Northampton Council dog wardens trained to identify prohibited types of dogs as defined by the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 legislation?

Northampton Borough Council’s dog warden service is provided by a contractor who have staff trained to identify the dogs identified as dangerous dogs in the legislation. In addition Northamptonshire Police have staff who have received training in dangerous dog investigation and their advice would be sought in cases where identification is required.
