INFORMATION FOR PARENTS & GUARDIANS

First, and most importantly, thank you for allowing your child to play Miracle League baseball. We will do our best to ensure that your child has a great experience. If there is something that we can do to improve your child's experience, please let your coach or Tony Comden know.

Please make sure that your child arrives at least 15 minutes before the start of his or her game. If your child will miss a game, be sure to let his or her coach know.

For the Fall 2013 season, we will play on September 21, September 28, October 5, and October 12. We will then have a six to eight game season in the Spring of 2014 and the Fall of 2014.

We will provide a jersey, hat, bats, balls, and batting helmets. Your child should have his or her own glove. If you cannot afford one, please let your child's coach know, and we will supply a glove for your child to use during games.

A volunteer buddy will be assigned to your child each game. The buddy's job is to help your child play safely and have fun. When you arrive at each game, please locate your child's buddy, identify yourself, and talk with the buddy about your child. Let the buddy know about your child's strengths and challenges, and what the buddy can do to help you child have a great game.

Games are two innings and generally take about 75 minutes or so to play. In Miracle League baseball, every player bats each inning. Every player gets on base each at bat, and every player scores a run each inning. Yes, this means that there are no "outs," although the defensive team is certainly encouraged to do its best to make plays and try to get players out, even though the player will stay on the base.

The coach for the team that is batting will be the pitcher (unless he or she designates somebody else to pitch). The coach will pitch to the player until the player gets a hit. We will also have a batting tee available if your player prefers to hit off of a tee, or if he or she is having trouble hitting the pitched ball.

Help your child have fun! Find a way to praise your child every game. Encourage your child to cheer for the other players and to celebrate their success.

As your child's parent or guardian, you are responsible to help your child with toileting and any medical issues that he or she may experience during the game.

Thank you. Please let your coach or Tony Comden know if you have any questions.
