Information, documents, and donation required for Owner Surrenders:

We appreciate your care and concern for your dog, and hope you will do the best you can to assure his/her care can continue. Due to the many dogs we help save from shelters, our foster homes are almost constantly full, we never have enough volunteer time to help, and our funds are always low. Adoption donations rarely cover the hundreds of dollars we spend on each dog that comes into our rescue.

If you are considering surrendering your dog, PLEASE be sure you are certain this is the decision that is best for your dog and your family, and only contact us (and use up our scarce volunteer time) to surrender your dog if you have exhausted all other possibilities of keeping him/her. We STRONGLY suggest working with a behavior trainer if your reasons for surrender involve personality issues.

For all Owner Surrenders, please return the following completed information to the PO Box address listed at the top of this form:

1)Completed and hand-signed Owner Release form (attached below)

2)Vet records for the last 2 years, and/or the name, address and phone number of the vet who has last seen the dog- can also have vet FAX info to (919) 882-9715

3)Any current pictures you have of the dog (emailed digital pictures preferred)

Once we receive the above info from you, we may be able to take your dog into our care, assuming there is a foster home open.

At the time of surrender to an NCSR member, please send with him/her the following:

1)Bag of current dog food

2)Heartworm preventive and flea/tick medications

3)Any toys, beds, or other belongings

4)If your dog requires vet care, updated shots, or still needs to be spayed/neutered, please include a $50-$100 donation check made out to NC Schnauzer Rescue to help defray vet bills and costs we will have for the dog while in our foster care. If your dog is in good health and is up to date on vaccinations and already altered, a donation is not required, but is always appreciated.

Thank you again for contacting rescue,

Rhonda, NC Schnauzer Rescue intake coordinator
