Our FIT Team members are responsible for the execution of our Annual Metropolis of Atlanta Hellenic Dance Festival in January. Committee volunteersshould be active sacramental members of their respective parishes.

Individuals interested in one of the positions are welcome to apply to join our team. The Executive Committeewill review all applications and notify candidates of their acceptance. Please note, those individuals who receive direct financial compensation as a result of the HDF weekend are not eligible to serve on the FITeam.

The HDF Executive Committee is appointed byMetropolitan Alexios and consists of the following positions: HDF Chair; HDF Vice-Chair; HDF Spiritual Advisor; Metropolis Youth Coordinator.

Position Term

FIT Co-Chair2 years(expires 2019)

This Individual should possess organizational skills and attention to detail. They will co-chair the Festival Implementation Team (FIT) with the HDF Chairperson, work closely with our Executive Committee, and be responsible for all aspects of the HDF Weekend. They will work closely with the local community to determine volunteer and sponsorship opportunities. This team member should have experience with our dance culture and weekend, and must have the written recommendation of their parish priest. Due to the amount of work necessary in this position, it is not recommended that current Dance Directors apply.

  • Minimum Age of 25, but maturity will be a factor in selection

Weekend Manager2 years(expires 2019)

This outgoing, energetic, personable individual will work closely with the FIT Co-Chair & Competition Chair to ensure the overall festival is the best it can be. They will work closely on all aspects of the Weekend, ensuring profitability and value for the registration fee. They will coordinate with the Logistics Chair for the scheduling of various workshops, the liturgical services, our volunteers, marketplace vendors, transportation needs, and other any last minute opportunities that arise. This position is a great stepping stone for someone interested in becoming the FIT Co-Chair.

Competition Chair2years(expires 2019)

This individual is responsible for the overall competition schedule during the weekend. They assist in the collection of all required documents including Intent to Participate, Dance Rosters and Dance Performance Forms. The two-day competition schedule is the main focus of this position, but they also host the Directors Meeting and lead the volunteers who assist in the competition rooms including timers, announcers, and stagehands. This individual should be organized, able to quickly adjust to last minute challenges, and have the ability to interact with all types of people and personalities. It is not recommended that individuals planning to compete or direct a group during HDF should apply.

  • Minimum Age of 25, with an event planning or logistics background.

Logistics1 year(expires 2018)

This position is the key to ensure that no detail is left unfinished. Creating signs, checking room sets, confirming schedules, coordinating transportation, and moving equipment are just a few of the varied tasks this hard working and detail oriented person will handle. Working closely with the Weekend Manager, this applicant is responsible for a smooth and well-coordinated HDF Weekend.

Judge Coordinator2 years(expires 2019)

A person with a flair for hospitality, willingness to serve, and an understanding of our dance competition is an ideal candidate for this position. They make recommendations for potential judges, coordinate their travel schedules, serve as the point of contact for the judges, and assist with any needs our judges may have throughout the weekend. They may also be asked to assist with the tabulation of scores. Applicants may not be current Dance Directors or planning to compete in HDF during their service.

  • Minimum Age of 22

Communications/Marketing1 year(expires 2018)

This position is crucial to ensure a successful festival by overseeing our various methods of communication from Flyers and Workshop Announcements, to Advertising and Registration Reminders. The applicant mayassist in managing the HDF website, the HDF App, send communication to the participants, and update our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. Much of the responsibility will be prior to the weekend, but they will continue to provide updates on social media throughout the weekend and assist with creating and administering the post-event survey to capture feedback from the participants.

Registration 1 year(expires 2018)

An individual with a technical background and financial acumen would work well to manage our registration process. They will work closely with our Marketing, Financial, and Weekend Chairs, as well as the Metropolis, to ensure an appropriate revenue stream, setting deadlines for payments, refunds, and additional sales. This applicant will also oversee the on-site registration process, preparing the necessary spreadsheets to ensure a smooth check-in and successful weekend overall.
