THE PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION WITH THE COLLEAGUES & KNOWLEDGE TO HELP

The association consists of persons who are currently working in local authority posts which impact on any of the licensing functions. Members may be clerks, technical assistants, licensing and enforcement officers or Solicitors and Legal Executives. In addition there are a number of honorary members who, due to their years of experience in this field, also contribute greatly to the strength of the Association.

Current Members (in excess of 676+) include officers from the Northern Ireland Department of the Environment, the Isle of Man Road Transport Commission, and numerous local authorities throughout England and Wales.

All fully paid up members have access to our website. Members can also post questions via the National Secretary or National Treasurer. This results in a round robin email to all members. This quickly assists officers not to have to reinvent the wheel!

The Association is divided into six regions, which hold usually six monthly meetings to discuss matters of interest. In addition in October of each year there is a National Seminar and Annual General Meeting. All members receive regular Newsletter style emails each year again containing licensing updates and newsflashes.

In January 2015 there will as usual be a three- day training course held in Daventry which is split into 5 separate “TAXI”modules. Any two of these modules can form the basis of an Edexcel-accredited BTEC in Taxi Licensing (3 levels available). General Licensing training and BTEC and a Vehicle Inspection Course and BTEC qualification are also available.

Tutors on the courses can provide a wealth of experience in PACE, Driving Licence Recognition, Self defence and awareness and many other fields. Attendees regularly remark on how accessible the tutors are even after the courses have finished.
