General Rules

WKF Rules to be used throughout with slight modifications as listed below. Any additional

rule amendments will be explained at coaches meeting prior to the event

All competitors to wear a clean white traditional Karate Gi, as per WKF Rules

Red and blue belts are compulsory for all events, with Kumite events also requiring the

Red and Blue mitts and gum shields. Chest protectors for females 14 years and over, all to be of the

WKF approved style

WKF style shin and foot protectors will be compulsory for all competitors 14 and over but would be

desirable for those 13 and under

WKF style body armour and face masks are allowed but not compulsory

No white cotton protectors allowed!

Competitors age as on day of competition

Incorrect entries will not be refunded and may not be re-allocated to correct divisions

Coaches Rules

Only 1 coach on an area at any time

All coaches to wear official tracksuit/Polo shirt

Only coaches will be allowed to approach a referee regarding administrative issues. Absolutely no

Discussions regarding refereeing decisions!

It is the coaches responsibility to ensure all competitors are fully licensed & insured.

Kata Rules

Any traditional Karate Kata may be performed.

No bunkai required!

* Note ''Free choice'' any Kata low or high graded.

* Pinan/Heian also includes introductory basic first kata.

Section KA 1, 2, 4, 6, 9

1 Pinan/ Heian or the introductory first kata needed and can be repeated each round.

KA 7, 8, 10, 11

These sections are free choice kata & a different kata each round.

KA 3, 5

These sections 2 Free choice kata are needed and alternate these each round,

KA 12 ( mixed vets)

These sections free choice kata and 1 can be repeated

KA 13, 14, 15, 16

All pairs kata are free choice and 1 kata can be repeated

Kumite Rules

All matches to be 1½ minutes

All teams to be three persons (Minimum of two competitors)

No head or face contact in 13yrs and under age groups

Photography will only be permissible at the podium and spectator seating areas

please note that this competition is open to members of the English Karate Federation or members of other WKF affiliated national governing bodies and competitors not in contravention of WKF statute 21.9 only. Licence checks will be carried out on the day and competitors are reminded that a valid licence must be presented upon request of the organising body or its representative, failure to do so may result in entry being denied.
