Position / Assistant Accountant – Ongoing- Part-Time – 0.6Department / ARC Justice
Reports to / The Operations Manager.
Primary Objective / To provide accountingand bookkeeping for ARC Justice and associated businesses and projects.

Salary and conditions / SCHADS Award, Social and Community Services employees, Level pay pointdependent upon experience.Salary packaging is available up to the value of $30,000 grossed up per annum
Superannuation is paid in accordance with legislated requirements.
The Multiple Business Agreement covers conditions only within the CLC.
Hours of work / Hours of work are between 9.00 am –5.06 pm, Monday-Friday. Overtime is not payable but time in lieu is available within ARC policy guidelines.Some out of hours work may occasionally be required.

- Position Summary
The Advocacy and Rights Centre Ltd has several programs and projects. The Assistant Accountant provides finance and other support to the Operations Manager and ensures that all bookkeeping, finance reports and statutory requirements are completed and complied with in a timely manner and other administrative and financetasksare carried out as requested by the Operations Manager.
- Selection Criteria
Essential
- Relevant qualification in accountancy or business studies, (CPA or CA preferred) and/or relevant senior bookkeeping and administration experience
- Demonstrated experience in the production of month end and year end accounts
- Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Computer skills including proficient use of Microsoft excel
- Good judgment with analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective organisational and prioritising skills with ability to meet deadlines
- Effective written, verbal and listening communication skills with all stakeholders
- Ability to prepare budgets and monitor expenditure against budgets
- Comprehensive knowledge of and soundexperience in Reckon
- Demonstrated ability to manage fortnightly payroll – currently around 30 staff
- Experience with Attaché payroll (or other payroll system)
- Demonstrated ability to produce core compliance reporting – BAS, superannuation,PAYG etc
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision in a busy environment and exercise initiative and take responsibility for own workload
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct the bookkeeper
- Ability and aptitude in the maintenance and continueddevelopment of records/filing and office systems
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change
- A current Victorian Driver’s license

- Key Responsibilities/ Duties
Finance and Bookkeeping
- Allocation of expenditure to correct accounts and classes
- Entry of data into current accounting package
- Arrange authorisation of payments
- Reconcile all bank accounts on a monthly basis
- Reconcile all general ledger accounts on a monthly basis
- Balance and maintain petty cash floats
- Prepare budgets in collaboration with Operations Manager
- Manage actuals against budgets for all costs centres in collaboration with the Bookkeeper and Operations Manager
- Produce financial reports as requested by Operations Manager
- Prepare and produce fortnightly pays (electronically) and payroll reports accurately and in a timely manner
- Produce Payment Summaries
- Administer Work Cover claims
- Prepare statutory reports, including ASIC and BAS, in conjunction with Bookkeeper and Operations Manager
- Prepare documentation and collaborate with Auditors to prepare annual financial and other reports as required from time to time
- Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings, and other meetings as required.
- Assist Operations Manager with other finance and or administrative duties as required
Other Duties
- Undertake other duties as may reasonably be required
- Liaise with staff on administration procedures
- Participate in Quality Improvement processes
- Meet agreed performance indicators
Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a National Police check.
