INDEPENDENT PRESCRIBING AND CONVERSION COURSES 2015 /16
APPLICANT INFORMATION
I am pleased to invite applications for the next Independent Prescribing and Conversion Courses which are now open. There are 4 courses available for 2015/16 with a total of 240 places, two at each School of Pharmacy, and these will be filled on a first come first serve basis.
Details relating to academic requirements for attending the prescribing course can be found on the University websites OR
Application for the Independent Prescribing courses and Conversion courses at both Universities in Scotland is now an online process. Please choose theONE course you wish to attendand click on the link adjacent to thisfrom the 4 options available. When each course is full the application process for that course will close on Questback and you will be advised of this.
Prior to applying for the course you must seek formal approval from your line manager in relation to:
Prescribing being an agreed development need for you
The clinical service you plan to deliver into as a pharmacist prescriber
Release from the service for course dates and agreement to support you during the experiential learning period
You also must identify a medical practitioner to act as your Designated Medical Practitioner who will support your training and resultant implementation of prescribing into clinical practice.
Following receipt of your application NES Pharmacy will require approval for funding from your Health Board Director of Pharmacy.

Following approval of your application for funding from your Health Board Director of Pharmacy you will receive communication from NES and from the University of your choice. This will occur approximately 4-6 weeks after the closing dates for applications to NES.
