Toddler, Pre-school and School Age Parenting Programmes

These programme are designed to promote positive strategies, to help parents to encourage the development of children’s emotional regulation and social skills and to assist parents in managing children’s behaviour problems. This programme includes: play, helping children learn through academic, persistence, emotion and social coaching, positive reinforcement, limit setting, non-physical discipline alternatives, problem solving, effective communication skills and supporting children’s education. Group process issues such as collaborating with and empowering parents, dealing with resistance and supporting parents will be explored. The programmes are used by professionals (early years staff, therapists, teachers and parent educators) who are working with families of young children including single parents, abusive parents, and teenage parents. The workshop teaches how to use the programmes as preventive early interventions in a range of settings. Attending this workshop is the first step in becoming a certified group leader. The training covers three Parent programmes for parents of Toddlers, 1 - 3 years, Pre-School children, 3 - 6 years and School Age children 6 - 8 years old. Please note unless twelve people are registered to attend, this training will not be run.
