Opening Day
It’s hard to believe that we are already in February and that Opening Day is less than eight weeks away. We will be playing an eight game schedule this Spring (weather permitting) and have scheduled Opening Day for Saturday, March 26. Games will be held every Saturday for the next eight weeks except for April 9, a day on which a number of our athletes will be participating in a Special Olympics event. Please see the paragraph below for registration and team assignment information.
Inaugural Fundraiser
You may already be aware that the Miracle League of Southlake is hosting our first annual fundraiser on February 19 from 6-9:30 PM. The event, including open bar, dinner and entertainment, will be hosted by the Southlake Hilton; a special thanks to the Hilton for all of the effort that they have put into planning and hosting this special evening. We will begin with a reception from 6-6:45 and are excited to be joined by a number of our athletes who will be signing their baseball cards for attendees.
Dinner will begin at 6:45, followed by a short program at 7:30. Entertainment and dancing, provided by Jose Guzman and his five piece band, will begin following the program. This will be a tremendous evening and one that will serve as a starting point for our efforts to raise funds to support the Miracle League of Southlake program.
Season One Recap
We were privileged to provide opportunities to play baseball to over 150 children and young adults with disabilities in the Fall of 2015. We fielded a total of ten teams (two competitive, four Minor and four Major) and completed our initial four games with no problem. But then Mother Nature took over, washing out our last two weeks and two scheduled rain dates. Nevertheless, we believe that we had an extremely successful first season. Thanks to all who participated, whether as a parent or player, sponsor, or volunteer.
Registration and Team Assignment
Registration is now open (visit and click on the Registration tab). Please note that all participants from the Fall 2015 Season will need to re-register for the Spring season. Our hope is that we will begin to assign players to teams beginning in early March. Players from the Fall2015 Season will be assigned to the same team; new players will either be assigned to an existing team or, subject to total numbers of registrants, to new teams. Because we have a need to order uniforms, we hope that everyone can register by March 1.
