ThePitch

For this portion of the contest, assume that you have not yet opened your restaurant. In order to open your outstanding eatery, you will need to make a presentation to potential investors to raise the necessary capital.

In your PowerPoint Presentation, you will discuss the following:

Introduction:

An interesting and professional description of your restaurant. For example:

Zara will be the restaurant of choice for the mature and adult crowd who want a fine dining experience and are willing to pay a premium for such an experience. This includes superior and efficient customer service, high quality food ingredients, etc.

Market Analysis- This part of restaurant business plan is sometimes referred to as a marketing strategy. There are three parts to a market analysis:

• Industry Analysis- Who are you going to be serving? Is your restaurant going to cater to older folks at lunch time? Single professionals at dinner? Families with young children? Explain your customer base and why they are going to flock to your new restaurant, not your competitors.

• Competition Analysis- Who is your competition? Many people opening a new restaurant assume everyone will prefer their new establishment to the existing competition. Don’t underestimate the other restaurants. They already have a loyal customer base, and luring customers from that base is not always easy. Find out as much as you can about your competition, including their menu, hours and prices. Then explain how you will compete with the already established businesses.

Promotion Analysis- What methods do you plan to use to promote your restaurant? How are you going to target your core audience? Perhaps you will offer a kids eat free night, or free lunch delivery to local offices. What is going to set you apart from your competition? Give specifics on how you plan to advertise (newspaper, TV commercials, etc…)

You should include the earlier elements from the assignment (menu items, gift certificate, logo, etc) throughout your presentation. You will decide which elements should be included, and where they should be placed. Use your best judgement.

PowerPoint Guidelines:

Your presentation should be about 5 minutes in length

It should about 5-10 slides. You may decide to show things like what the inside of your restaurant looks like, some popular dishes, etc. Remember to be creative.
