EMPLOYEE MONTHLY MEETING

  1. FOLLOW UP ON ACTION ITEMS:

Award Ceremony/ Ice Cream Social to be held in September. We are looking for creative ideas for a theme and to help organize the event. If you are interested please see Jennifer Grace. / Jennifer Grace / Staff / ASAP
  1. NEW BUSINESS:

In-Service: Workplace Safety/ Work Rules and Regulations

There will be no use of cell phones on the production floor! This includes phone

calls, texting, music, and watching videos. If it is an emergency you should be

speaking with staff and your Service Coordinator not walking off the floor to answer/ make a call. If you have questions regarding this please see your Service Coordinator. S.B asked “are you guys allowed to take our phones at anytime?” We responded with “No, but we can alert your staff and guardian.”

During the summer months, Bermuda shorts (1 inch above the knee length) are allowed. However, jogging shorts, short-shorts, open-toed shoes, tank top shirts (shirts with no shoulders), halter shirts and low cut shirts are not appropriate.

Heat Exhaustion: Wearing appropriate clothing, taking breaks, drinking water.

S.R stated that she keeps water bottles in her lunch pail incase she needs it.

S.B. asked “Are we allowed to have water bottles on the shop floor?”We

responded back by saying “No, because of the products we are working on

but you can go to the drinking fountain anytime.”

Barrowing money is against the agency policy. Please see your Service Coordinator if you have further questions on this policy. R.M. stated that “No matter how much you enforce that, it’s going to happen till the end of time!” We replied back with “that’s where you come into play! If you see this happening tell staff or a Service Coordinator. If you are asked for food or money make sure you let them know that it’s not allowed and you do not want to be a part of it.”

Service Coordinators are in the cafeteria during morning buses, lunch time and pm

buses. It is important that you save your questions, concerns, etc. for those times.

  1. POLICY & PROCEDURE:
  • Workplace Safety/ Work Rules and Regulations:

General safety was discussed regarding walkthroughs, PPEs, reporting incidents and following rules. A.F. stated that “We should not lose our temper.”

  • CARF:

A discussion of what CARF is and what it means to the Arnold Center was held. It was mentioned that there will be surveyors to speak with individuals and what to expect. One question that was asked was “Why are you here at the Arnold Center?” A.F replied back “To find community employment. I want to work at Taco Bell.” CARF will be here August 20th and 21st.

  1. SAFETY:

Reminder to report any potential or recent safety issues or concerns. If you need

assistance completing a safety slip please ask support staff.

  1. SPOTLIGHT:

The worker of the month for July isJodee M.for “Improving on her production on the shop floor, positive attitude and contagious smile.”

Arnold Center News summer 2015– copieswere made available and passed out before work to those wanting one. Those wanting a copy who had not received one in the morning should ask their Service Coordinator during lunch or at the end of their shift.

  1. SELF ADVOCACY:

Tips of the month:

  • If you have difficulty contacting your counselor, ask to speak to their coordinator.
  • If your call is not responded to in a timely manner, or it is an emergency, ask to speak to the supervisor.
