Technology Mini-Movies

In this multi-day project, students will work in groups to write, film and edit a movie about a piece of technology from our U.S. History II curriculum.

Reminders

All group members receive the same grade.

This is a project worth 50 points—the same as a notebook grade.

Using technology like the Flip cameras and laptops is a privilege—stay on task!

Day 1

Assessment: Storyboard and script at least ¾ completed & roles assigned.

Day 2

□Listen to good filming techniques (i.e. don’t move the camera, speak clearly)

□Finish research, storyboard & script (if needed)

□Start filming

Assessment: Film at least two segments.

Day 3

□Listen to iMovie introduction and saving instructions

□Finish filming

□Read iMovie brochure

□Import movies into iMovie

Assessment: All four segments imported and saved in iMovie.

Day 4

□Edit movies

□Save as Quicktime movie

Assessment: Completed movie in Quicktime format.

Day 5 (if available and/or needed)

□Finish editing movies

□Save as Quicktime movie

□Present movie to class

Assessment: Presentation of completed Technology Mini-Movie.

Hollywood to Classroom Presentation Script & Storyboard

Work with fellow participants and colleagues to generate your own iMovie. The goal is for you to become familiar with the technology in order to consider appropriate use in your own classroom. Please budget your time in order to take 20 minutes to complete this script and film your movie. Then take an additional 20 minutes to import and edit your film in the iMovie software.
