JORDI BERNÀCER

Conductor

Jordi Bernàcer is from 2015 Resident Conductor at the San Francisco Opera. He studied Flute, Choir and Orchestral Conducting at the “Joaquín Rodrigo” Conservatory in Valencia. He attended International Courses for Conducting with Maestro Erwin Acél at the University of Music in Vienna concluding his studies at the Vienna Conservatory with Prof. Georg Mark and Reinhard Schwarz with the much coveted honors degree.

In 1997 he gets the Verein Wiener Musikseminar Conducting Prize. In 2004 he was selected to conduct in the “Beethoven Workshop” with Daniel Barenboim in the Vienna Musikverein.

He was assistent of Lorin Maazel who invited him in 2009 as Associate Conductor at “Castleton Festival” in Virginia (USA). He also collaborates with Riccardo Chailly, Sir Andrew Davis, Valery Gergiev, Nicola Luisotti, Zubin Mehta, Georges Prêtre and others.

He conducted the Spanish National Orchestra and Chorus, Spanish Radio Symphony Orchestra (R.T.V.E.), the Valencian Community Orchestra (“Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía), the Barcelona, Galicia, Asturias, Bilbao, Euskadi, Navarra, Castilla y León, Barcelona, Murcia, Tenerife Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Valencia, Extremadura and Madrid Community Orchestras in Spain.

He has also conducted the Baden-Baden Philharmonie in tour with Plácido Domingo, the Mariinsky Orchestra and Chorus in Sant Petersburg, the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra e Coro del Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Budapest State Opera, Los Angeles Opera as well as the Qatar, Berlin and Praga Chamber orchestras.

He conducted opera productions at the "Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía" in Valencia (Massenet's Manon, Puccini’s ManonLescaut, Moreno Torroba’s Luisa Fernanda and Verdi’s Simon Boccanegraboth with Plácido Domingo), Teatro Real in Madrid (Verdi's Rigoletto), Teatro di San Carlo in Naples (Mascagni’s CavalleriaRusticana and Puccini’s Tosca), Los Angeles Opera (Puccini’s Tosca), TeatrWielki in Poznan, Poland (Bizet’s Carmen), Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao (Montsalvatge's El gato con botas), Pamplona (Rossini’s L’occasione fa illadro) and Festivals like Peralada (Chapí's El rey que rabió), Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca, Italy (“Nûr” World Premiére) and Castleton Festival in Virginia (Britten's The Beggar's Opera).

He has been invited by prestigious musical institutions like Abu Dhabi Classics, Festival de MúsicaContemporánea de Alicante, Mozart Festival in La Coruña, International Festival in Santander etc.

His performances have been recorded by the Spanish National Radio (RNE), Spanish National Television (TVE), RAI (Italy) and Abu Dhabi Classics.

Recently he conducted I PURITANI in Piacenza, Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy); among his future commitments CARMEN and TOSCA in Rome, NABUCCO in Verona and RIGOLETTO in San Francisco.
