IIC Roles and Responsibilities (Georgia)

  • Serves as the liaison between GLISI and the district; Superintendent and the Cohort Team(s)
  • Leads the Cohort Team in collaboration with the Superintendent and with support of GLISI Performance Consultant
  • Ensures all GLISI norms and protocols are followed
  • Provides project management support to leaders and the teams as they work on improvement initiatives
  • Facilitates communication and collaboration between school leaders and district staff
  • Helps identify and broker district resources and support for leaders and the teams
  • Coordinates activities before, during, and after Base Camp and Leadership Summit
  • Plans and schedules learning opportunities for leaders to acquire skills and knowledge needed to lead team-based improvement in schools / district
  • Is the Superintendent’s/Designee’s right hand in implementing the team-based improvement process
  • Plans, measures, monitors, manages and communicates expectations for implementation of the tools and processes experienced at Base Camp, Leadership Summit, and beyond
  • Serves as “cheerleader” and “encourager” for all those participating in Base Camp and Leadership Summit

Tasks Soon After Executive Preview (Nanci and Georgia)

  • Finalize team and submit participant list on spreadsheet (which Nanci will send with a reminder of participant numbers, instructions, and due date)
  • Hotel reservations are pre-arranged for Monday and Tuesday nights (and included in your registration fee); contact Nanci if Sunday night reservations desired (at district expense)
  • Familiarize yourself with the Team Points System (see handouts)

Prior to Base Camp (Patty, James, and Kasey)

  • Meet with Principals connected to your team
  • Conduct Kick Off Meeting with full teamto build capacity for engagement in BCLS
  • Start with Why; establish context for BCLS in district improvement efforts

  • Facilitate team members introducing themselves to one another
  • Ask each team member to share his/her greatest hope for participating in the Base Camp and Leadership Summit team-based learning opportunity
  • Share BCLS logistics with team members (see Evergreen Map)
  • Cohort dates for Base Camp and Leadership Summit
  • Hotel accommodations have been arranged; credit card for incidentals; remain on site
  • Travel arrangements to Evergreen
  • Bring electronic device(s) and chargers
  • Team Meeting with GLISI Performance Consultant at 11:00 AM on BC Day 1
  • Lunch with team at Waterside Restaurant (11:30-1:00)
  • BCLS Learning Structure: Daily large group instruction in Ballroom and Team Performance Times in assigned breakout rooms
  • Bring additional data (or know how to access it)
  • Spirit wear and appropriate dress
  • Points system and expectations (being in seats, ready to start on time, etc.)

  • Determine “Our Three Words” for BC Day 1 Team Introductions
  • Brainstorm and reach consensus on “Our Three Words” describing why we are here and what we represent
  • When your team is asked to stand on BC Day 1, you will be asked to shout “Our Three Words”
  • GLISI sends BCLS Pre-Assessment Survey link to individual participants, with pre-notice to IICs
  • GLISI sends logistics reminders to IICs and team members
  • GLISI sends downloadable materials electronically to IICs and participant members; print materials available for each participant on-site
  • Notify Nanci of any participant changes or cancellations; seats are valid for 2016-17 season only

Base Camp Meetings: Day 1 Opening Session (Georgia)

  • Base Camp Schedule (see handout)
  • IICs @ 10:00 AM (Room location TBA; you’ll receive team member’s nametags at that meeting)
