Supplies

We are running low on Clorox wipes if anyone is able to donate for our last few weeks of school. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.

Reading/Read to Achieve

In reading we are reviewing many standards in guided reading groups and whole group instruction. We are working on responding to questions and rating ourselves. I hope you enjoyed reading your child’s Blooming Arts books. I was very proud of their hard work.

Homework Reminders

Please encourage your child to take their time on their reading log each night, and try to answer different questions for their log.

Students should also bring math notes home each night to study. We write vocabulary words and complete interactive notebooks that are helpful to students to look over each night.

We will no longer be completing fact checks in class, but please have your child continue to study facts each night.

We will also be having spelling for the next few weeks as well. Students’ three activities and test will be this Friday.

Math

In math we have started our fraction unit. We have talked about many vocabulary words such as numerator, denominator, and equivalent fractions. We are looking at how to find simple equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, and locating fractions on a number line. We will also be doing EOG review beginning in May.

Testing

As you can tell from the upcoming dates we are beginning our end of the year testing in May. Please be sure your child is at school each day unless they are sick. It is so important that we spend the next few weeks on a consistent schedule. We will be having guidance lessons and discussions on testing, and what to expect on test day. Encourage your child to do their very best and increase their goals on all tests. I would highly encourage students to take a break from video games at least a week before the EOG. Studies have found students perform better if they are not using video games a few days before testing.

Please sign and return this newsletter to school. I will check and then place on the keep at home side of the blue folder so you will have all the information in this newsletter.
