Summary of post:
This part-time research post will be administered at the Department of Medicine, UCT and will be based at Groote Schuur Hospital. A candidate with a Masters degree in Medicine or M.Tech graduate who has more than 5 years experience in echocardiography is sought manage the echocardiography- related medical research activities of the projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
¨ The design of research questions and conduct small echocardiography projects under the supervision and with the approval of the principal investigator(s).
¨ Writing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the performing, reporting and archiving of echocardiograms for research projects.
¨ Overseeing echocardiography- related activities.
¨ Training echo-cardiographers according to the SOPs
¨ Quality control (upkeep of SOP specifications)
¨ Provide echocardiography training to registered trainees as part of a training committee, or independently.
¨ Manage echocardiography- related services that is provided to other research projects
¨ Maintenance of accurate echocardiography data.
¨ Establish the variance of measurements and observers.

¨ Maintain effective communication with the project manager(s), the projects co-ordinator(s) and the echocardiographers

KNOWLEDGE
Essential
¨ A Masters degree in Medicine or M.Tech Clin Tech (Cardiology)
¨ Fluency in written and spoken English
¨ Experience in Cardiology clinical practice
¨ Clinical research experience
Desirable
¨ Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and current accredited GCP certificate
¨ Knowledge of data management processes
