What are the new Impact SCS telephones?
New digital stations with an updated, stylish design and expanded capabilities.
What models are available?
As of Q3 1997, seven models are available:
1. 8324S – 24 Line Half-Duplex LCD Speakerphone
2. 8312S – 12 Line Half-Duplex LCD Speakerphone
3. 8212S – 12 Line Half-Duplex Speakerphone
4. 8212N – 12 Line Non-Monitor Telephone
5. 8201N – Single Line Telephone
6. IB24X – 24 Button DSS/BLF Console
7. IB48X – 48 Button DSS/BLF Console
Q1 1998 will see the introduction of three more models:
1. 8324F – 24 Line Full-Duplex LCD Speakerphone
2. 8412F – 12 Line Full-Duplex Large Screen LCD Speakerphone
3. 8412S – 12 Line Half-Duplex Large Screen LCD Speakerphone
What do these phones offer that the current Impact phones do not?
Selected Features:
1. Smaller Footprint
2. User adjustable pedestal
3. Volume control handset
4. Safety tri-level audio compression for enhanced headset operation
5. IST option
6. Tri-colored LEDs on consoles
7. Programmable function keys (Impact 224, 560, and FXS only)
How much smaller is the SCS footprint than the original Impact footprint?
The 8300 and 8400 SCS models are about 9 inches wide as opposed to the 8024 and
8124, which are 10.75 inches (1.75-inch difference). The length of these particular
models is the same (8.9 inches).
Likewise, the 8200 SCS models are about 6.3 inches wide as opposed to the 8101 and
8112, which are 7.1 inches (0.8-inch difference). Once again, the length is the same (8.9
inches).
There is no comparable size SCS phone for the 8012 and 8112.
What systems and software versions support Impact SCS telephones?
FX Series 12A
DXP 12A
DXP Plus 12A
DSU II 4A
DSU 20A
8412F and 8412S not supported on DSU and DSU II systems.
Are you going to discontinue the current Impact phones?
No. The plan is to continue producing the current Impact phones as well.
How do I use a headset with these phones?
Purchase headset from Comdial. (Still subject to announcement.) A third party headset
with an external box can still be used if desired, but tri-level audio compression is not
guaranteed.
How do I wall mount these phones?
Use wall mount assembly kits:
IMPWW-xx Wide Wall Mount (for 8300 series phones)
IMPWN-xx Narrow Wall Mount (for 8200 series phones)
Can I really have line appearances on all four levels of my console?
Yes, except on DSU and DSU II.
How many consoles can be used with each phone?
Four if using standard hardware ports. One if bridged mode. Impact 224, 560, and FXS
can combine dedicated ports with bridged ports for a total of 4. Two on DSU (no bridged
console operation).
What is this “Imprint” desi strip program I keep hearing about?
An application within VMMI that allows custom printing of designation strips for Impact
SCS phones. Reduces labor and enhances professional image.
How do I order the die-cut labels for the “Imprint” application?
Order through one of the Comdial distributors.
