IIA Denver Chapter President

The Denver Chapter IIA is seeking applicants for Chapter President for the 2018-19 Chapter Year (which begins June 1st, 2018). Applicants will be vetted by the Denver Chapter’s Nominating Committee and one candidate will be identified for the position. To provide the candidate an opportunity to learn the role and to improve continuity for the chapter, the selected candidate will be asked to shadow the current Chapter President for the remainder of the 2017-18 Chapter Year. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to attend the IIA’s Annual Leadership Conference in Orlando, held in April 2018, for which the Chapter will reimburse travel expenses in accordance with the chapter’s expense reimbursement policy. Overview: The Chapter President is responsible for leadership and strategic direction for the Chapter, which includes developing specific initiatives to take the Chapter to the next level, enforcing the Chapter Bylaws and Policies, ensuring all Chapter Officers and Volunteers receive adequate support, soliciting volunteers, overseeing the Chapter’s Long Range Plan, Succession Plan, and Reporting Calendar, and ensuring all Chapter Officers and Volunteers stay on track with fulfilling their specific responsibilities. The Chapter President interacts frequently with IIA-HQ and all Chapter Officers, Volunteers, and Board of Governors at-large (BOG). The Chapter President role requires an average time commitment of 5 to 10 hours per week, with more time required when needed to address specific issues. The Chapter President is expected to attend all quarterly BOG meetings and as many Chapter events as possible.

Term: Per the bylaws, the Chapter President is a voting member of the Denver IIA Chapter Board of Governors (BOG). The Chapter President is a three-year commitment. The Chapter President serves a one-year term in the first year (which cannot be extended); followed by a term as Chair of the BOG in the second year, followed by a term as Past Chair of the BOG in the third year.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a CIA or other appropriate internal-audit related designation, have strong leadership and high-level management skills, strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of Chapter operations, and have prior experience as either VP of Education or Treasurer either at the Denver Chapter or another IIA Chapter.
