IHSA GIRLS & BOYS REGIONAL CLASS 3A CROSS COUNTRY MEET

PLACE:DeerGroveEastForestPreserve on Dundee Rd (Rt. 68), ¼ mile west of Hicks Rd.
TIME:The girls’ race will start at 10:00 A.M. and the boys’ race at 11:00 A.M. Races will start on time.
RULES:2031 National Federation Track Rules and the 2013 Terms and Conditions of the IHSA Cross Country Series.
EQUIPMENT:Spikes or flats.
COURSE:The course is grass and will be marked with appropriate flags and orange cones. The 1 mile and 2 mile will bemarked. Course distance is 3 miles for both boys and girls.
STARTING:The first race will start promptly at 10:00 A.M. At 9:45 A.M. A “Call to the Starting Line” announcement will be made. All teams are to be at the starting line at 9:55 A.M. A second announcement will be made for the starters to get teams in the proper starting boxes. Starting boxes have been pre-assigned by blind draw. Each coach will place his 7 runners in any order within the box with no more than 4 runners on the starting line.
DRESSING:No locker rooms are available – Come to the course dressed to compete.
AWARDS:The awards for both girls and boys races will be presented at the conclusion of the meet. Each 1st place team will receive a plaque. 1st thru 5th place medals to individuals.
ADVANCEMENT OF RUNNERS TO SCHAUMBURG SECTIONAL: BOYS & GIRLS
The first 6 placing teams and the first 5 individual runners who are not members of qualifying teams will advance to the Schaumburg Sectional.
INSTRUCTIONS TO ATHLETES:
- Each runner will wear an assigned tag with his/her name and school on it. The tag will be pulled by a judge in the chute after he/she finishes.
- Each runner will be given a place card as he/she proceeds through the chute.
- Athletes will give these place cards to their coach.
- Coaches are responsible for collecting the place cards, listing the score on the packet provided, adding their score, totaling their score, and turning in the envelope to the Head Scorer within 10 minutes after the last runner from their team finishes.
BUSPARKING:At West end of Deer Grove
SPECTATORS:Spectators are asked not to be on the course and are to stay back from the starting line and chute. There will be a roped off area for them.
