Meeting Minutes
IHE-C Technical Committee Preparatory Meeting was held on Jan.19, 2008. A dozen of recommended scholars and technical experts from the related academic associations, hospitals and medical apparatus suppliers attended the meeting.
This preparatory meeting was chaired by Dr. Jiwu Zhang,Executive Secretary-General of IHE-C. Dr. Zhang, first of all, introduced the aim of this preparatory meeting, that is, to invite people of various circles to participate in the IHE activities in China with the help of the initiating associations/societies, and build an open, fair and just platform for IHE. Meanwhile, Dr. Zhang made a brief introduction about the organizational frame of IHE International and the current situations of IHE-C. Next, Dr. Zhang summed up the work that IHE-C has done in the past year. In the working plan for the next year, he pointed out that IHE-C will continue to grow and develop from the field of radiology to other fields, such as eye care, cardiology, etc. Finally, Dr. Zhang hoped to work together with the present scholars and experts to make IHE-C an open, fair and just activity and gradually develop it into an organization. Before it has been approved as an organization, IHE-C will initiate series of activities with the help of some of the initiating associations/societies, mainly China Association of Medical Equipment and Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering.
Later the present scholars and experts had a warm discussion on Dr. Zhang’s speech and the current situations of IHE-C. They all expressed their supports on holding IHE activities in China and held that the IHE-C activities were helpful to promote the Chinese medical informationization and develop the standardization of Chinese medical information so as to integrate with IHE International.
In the following stage, all present scholars and experts discussed “The IHE-C Technical Committee Working Rules Draft” and gave suggestions. Prof. Jianguo Zhang held that the “Working Rules” should include some guideline sentences, such as coordinate with the Chinese medical informationization, popularize the standardization of medical information and integrate with the international community. Mr. Menglong Wang, a representative from GE, thought that the members of Technical Committee should include vendors, users, hospitals, experts in IT and administration. Pro. Baoluo Li held that the “Working Rules” should definitely reflect the qualifications, rights and obligations of becoming chairman and members. Since the 2008 IHE-C Connectathon is approaching, the Connectathon plan was also discussed in this meeting. The present scholars and experts have put forward a lot of valuable suggestions which can guide the solving of the problems occurring in the Connectathon. All of participants reached agreement that IHE-C Connectathon should bring in various domestic HIS vendors and realize effectively the connection among HIS, PACS and RIS. Before the Connedctathon, the organizer should intensify the publicity, education and training to the participants. IHE-C Connectathon is a complex and painstaking job which needs a lot of cooperation and help from various sides. In this meeting, all representatives expressed their supports to the first IHE-C Connetctahon and were willing to undertake some of preparatory work.
Finally, the meeting discussed and built the working plan for the next stage. The meeting proceeds ina warm and cordial atmosphereand has achieved substantial results.
