Overview of Volunteer Coordinator Role
Planning, organising and running the children’s programme at IFCA’s National Conference in conjunction with the Head Volunteer Coordinator and IFCA staff team.Coordinating and supervising general day volunteers at the conference.
Time Commitment
- To attend at least two meetings prior to the conference in your local area and complete actions in between
- To take full part or offer at least a day in the coordination of the Children’s Programme at the Conference during Saturday daytime and Sunday morning.
Tasks
- Plan and organise the Children’sProgramme in conjunction with IFCA Staff. This is not an exhaustive list:
-Planning activities and booking venues
-Organising transport
-Organising lunches
-Sourcing general volunteers
-Equipment list prepared i.e. volunteer bibs, name tags, paperwork
- In conjunction with the Head Volunteer Coordinator, ensure the smooth and safe running of the Children’sProgramme on the day. This is not an exhaustive list:
-Coordinate and supervise general day volunteers
-Attendvolunteer briefing in the morning
-Attend debriefing at the end of each day
-Manageregistration and sign in and out systems
- Abide by IFCA’s Child Protection Policy
- To work closely with and take direction from the Volunteer Head Coordinator
Essential Competencies
- Gardavetted by IFCA
- Be respectful of children and young people
- Be respectful of others and understand the importance of being a good team player
- Be a people person and possess good communication, listening and networking skills
- Observe confidentiality at all times, unless there is a risk to a child or to the person themselves
Support & Supervision
Ongoing supervision and support in the lead up to and during the event will be provided by the Head Volunteer Co-ordinator and key IFCA Staff; Shea Tarrant and Aoife O Neill
