The first day of school is quickly approaching. We are getting the school building ready for students and preparing materials and curriculumfor student learning. Teacher Assignments-Posted on Friday, August 17 at 3:00 pm

This school year, all elementary schools are posting class lists by Student ID number. Class lists will be posted by grade level on the Y Door-#13, Kindergarten Door-#3 and Recess Door-#6on Friday, August 17 at 3:00 pm. Please note that students will be listed within their class by student ID number.

As we move into August, enrollment numbers and sections per grade level continue to remain consistent from kindergarten through fifth grade.

New Classroom Space

The district is moving forward with the creation of an additional classroom space at Young. This new classroom will completed by Saturday of this week. The newroom will be formed by taking down the wall between two half classrooms in order to make one full size classroom. Depending upon student numbers and grade level sections, this additional classroom space will be used as a location for a grade level classroom or a music room.

The school assists elementary parents who might not have flexibility in their Wednesday morning schedules by providing supervision in the gym at 8:50 am. During this 10 minute period, students will work quietly on school work or read a book.

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications and Fee Waivers

The Free and Reduced Lunch applications are now available online. (Please feel free to visit the school and utilize the school computers to complete your application.) Please submit the ON-LINE HOUSEHOLD ELIGIBLITY APPLICATION for Free and Reduced Lunch. ( If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact the school office.

Arrival and Dismissal

Arrival and Dismissal Sheet: Please complete and return the arrival and dismissal sheet with your child on the first day of school. It is important that you inform the classroom teacher and the office with details of your child’s arrival and dismissal routines. Please note that unless we hear directly from a parent we will follow the dismissal information that is noted on the arrival/departure form. If there is a permanent change to your child’s dismissal routine, we ask that you send a revised “Green” sheet to school. If your child’s dismissal routine is a temporary change for a few days, please send a note to the classroom teacher to detail this temporary change.

Busses: Bus route information is now available. Students qualify for bussing if they live more than 1.5 miles away from school. Please visit the following website to access bus route information. (

Bus Routes: Please note that the online bus route information is for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. On PD Wednesdays bus times will be adjusted by 10 minutes for morning pick-up time.

Bus Safety: Due to safety concerns it is district policy that students ride the bus to which they are assigned. Please note, that students who do not qualify for bussing, may not ride a bus home with a friend. It is very important that we know the names and contact information of all of our bus rider students. In the event of an emergency, the school or bus company would be unable to make contact with families of unassigned bus riders. If you have questions, regarding the bus route, please contact the school office.

On Kindergarteners’ first full day of school, Kindergarten students will enter the building independently. Multiple staff members will be available throughout the building to help kindergarten students walk to their classroom.
