SUMMER SEMINAR
Summer Seminar is a unique opportunity for high school juniors going into their senior year to see a realistic slice of cadet life. It is a fun, yet demanding, program that will give you a solid understanding of the challenges and rewards of life as an Air Force Academy cadet, and insights into what it means to serve as an officer in the United States Air Force. You will leave USAFA more informed, more prepared and more motivated to excel! During the program, you will be assigned to an element with an upper class cadet as your Element Leader. Your Element Leader will be with you almost 24 hours a day as your mentor and guide. You will attend workshops taught by Academy faculty members ranging from aeronautics to humanities. You will live in cadet dormitories and eat at the cadet dining facility. You will participate in a variety of physical fitness activities from morning PT to a practice Candidate Fitness Assessment.
For most participants, the highlight of the program is "Doolie for a Day", where you will experience what it's like to be a 4th class cadet. During this day you will be challenged mentally and physically, experiencing room inspections, military knowledge tests, and physical challenges and training similar to those 4th class cadets meet.

SELECTIONS
Students are selected on a "whole person concept." We are looking for emerging leaders to take our Air Force into the future, and we look for that leadership based on demonstrated leadership experience/potential in extracurricular and community activities, athletics and academics. Please keep in mind that selection to attend Summer Seminar is NOT in any way a prerequisite for admission to the Academy. If you are not selected for Summer Seminar, it should not be interpreted as a reflection on your qualifications or ability to successfully pursue an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy!
We use a rolling selections process. We start making selections approximately one week after the application window opens. We continue to select candidates until after the application window closes, but odds of selection are best early in the application window.
If you have questions about the selection process, please e-mail .
