IESP Common Scholarship Application

IESP manages three scholarships for College of Engineering students studying abroad on IESP programs:

1) Alvarado Global Experience Scholarship

2) Huibregtse Award

3) Robert B. Olson International Experience Fund

These awards were established to enhance the education of UW-Madison College of Engineering students by providing financial support to participants on UW-Madison approved semester and year-long study abroad programs. Students may receive only one award, and may receive a specific award only once.

Criteria

Scholarships will be awarded to full-time students attending the College of Engineering at UW-Madison in a degree-granting engineering program. Common criteria for all the three scholarships include:

·  Financial need (as defined and confirmed by Office of Student Financial Services)

·  Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

·  Admission to an UW-Madison College of Engineering approved semester or year-long study abroad program

For the Huibregtse Award, applicants must meet the following additional criteria:

·  At least Junior standing

·  Graduate of a Wisconsin public high school

·  Applicants participating in programs located in Central Europe will receive primary consideration

For the Robert B. Olson International Experience Fund, applicants must meet the following additional criteria:

·  At least Junior standing

(There are no additional requirements for the Alvarado Global Experience Scholarship.)

Application deadlines

First Friday in April for fall/year programs

First Friday in November for spring programs

Application Materials

Each applicant must submit the following materials to be considered:

·  IESP Common Scholarship Application

·  Student Academic Record from MyUW

·  Current resume

·  One/two page type-written statement addressing:

·  The relevance of the particular study abroad program to your academic, professional and personal goals

·  Your need for financial support for study abroad

Your scholarship application will be reviewed for consideration only if a completed UW-Madison College of Engineering study abroad application has been received by International Engineering Studies and Programs prior to the program’s application deadline. Scholarship award notifications will be sent no later than one month after the application deadline. Scholarship checks will be disbursed no later than 2 months prior to the beginning of your study abroad program.
