1.0 Useful Facts Including Browser Installation:

If you are installing IDEAL Web Reader Beta (IWR V4.0), and you currently have a previous version of the browser installed, we strongly recommended that you remove the older version and all its data prior to upgrading. To do this, you need to remove the old app from your phone as well as all folders that contain its data. Here's the easiest way to do this.

  1. Onyour android device, go into the settings menu.
  2. Click on the option that says apps or application manager depending on theversion of android you're running.
  3. Fromthe list of apps that appears, find the app that says “Web Access.” Even though the application shows up on your home screen as “IDEAL Web Reader,” it appears in the app listing as“Web Access.”
  4. Doubletap on the “Web Access” option but do not click the uninstall button on the next screen just yet. Instead, click on the buttons that say "Clear Cache" and "Clear Data". You will need to click on these buttons one at a time. If prompted with a warning about clearing the cache or data, simply answer “Yes” and proceed.
  5. Now that cache and data have been cleared, you should click the button nearthe top of the screen that says uninstall app. This will remove the old version of“IDEAL Web Reader” from your phone.
  6. Finally, before installing IWR V4.0 you should also delete the folder named “IDEAL Web Access” which is found on the root of your device. To do this, go into your preferred file manager, locate the folder and delete it.After you have completed these steps you may download and install IWRV4.0 Beta from Google play as you would with any other application. Here’s the URL:

2.0 Other items of note:

  1. IWR V4.0 Beta allows you to use keyboards to navigate the net. These include built-in keyboards as well as Bluetooth and USB models. If you want to use a keyboard, you should make sure it is connected to your phone or tablet before you start “IWR V4.0 Beta.” You should also make sure that keyboard commands are enabled within “IDEAL Reader” itself. The program should alert you whether keyboard commands are enabled when new web pages load, and you can toggle this option by pressing alt K on your keyboard. When keyboard commands are enabled, you can use keys to jump to headings, tables, edit fields, etc. You will also find that turning on keyboard commands is essential for using the arrow keys to move around web pages with speech. By contrast, you will find that when keyboard commands are disabled you can use your keyboard to type into web forms such as text boxes. A full list of keyboard commands can be found on the web page that initially loads when you start IWR V4.0 Beta.”
  2. At this time IWR V4.0 Beta is not able to download files or other web content. However, you can get around this in one of two ways. If you are using a hardware keyboard to navigate the web, you can press and hold the enter key on a link to a document, mp3, or other file of interest. A system dialogue appears asking you what other browser you'd like to use to download the file. Alternatively, should you be using only the touch screen, you can double tap and hold your finger on a link for several seconds. This will bring up the same system dialogue and you can choose which browser you'd like to open the link with. In some cases, ideal web reader may speak as if it had loaded another web page when you are still in this dialogue. You can disregard the speech and clicking on whatever browser you choose will begin downloading the file you want.
  3. You may notice that when flicking left and right through a web page, IWR V4.0 Beta occasionally gets stuck on a particular section of the web page. This should not happen often, but when it does, you can simply touch your finger on a different portion of the screen. This should allow you to continue using the flick gestures to navigate the web page. Also using the arrow keys on a hardware keyboard tends to move the IWR V4.0 Beta past the misbehaving spot on the web page.
  4. Please let us know of any other concerns you have when using this beta. We appreciate your input.
