Ⅱ. Course Selection

Students are required to choose one subject from each of the six academic areas, although they can choose a second subject from group 1 to 5 instead of a group 6 subject. Three subjects are taken as higher level, and the others are taken as standard level. Subjects at HL are studied in greater depth and breadth than at SL. The core subjects are compulsory for every student.

Students start to consider their decision of course selection when they are in the second term of year 10. Students are suggested to choose the subjects and levels depending on their interest, academic capability and the major that they will choose in university. An instruction lecture on course selection will be held for the students and their parents in March of year 10 to provide advice for the course selection.
