I Would Like to Welcome Your Child to Integrated Business Applications 1 . During This

January 15, 2013

Dear Parents,

I would like to welcome your child to Integrated Business Applications 1. During this course they will learn about many different skills that are needed to improveComputer Literacy. We will be using the textbook “Learning Microsoft Office 2010”. The course is designed to introduce the students to Microsoft Software,specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

All parents have access to their child’s grades, attendance, discipline and any other records held by the school. If you have not set up an account with Powerschool, please stop by the school to do so. If you don’t have time – ask your child to give you their password (they have one). You will see the same information that they see. Please check your child’s grades regularly, so you know where they stand in this class as well as their other classes.

Most assignments must be completed in class on our computers, but from time to time they will have “some” homework.Please make sure that child has plenty of print code money and a three ring notebook. Your child will need a flash drive for this class.

I also coach each afternoon so I am typically in my classroom until 3:45 daily, except on game day. Any student who has missed a day and needs to make up work,or needs tutoring, is welcome to stay after school and work, but I do ask that they please make an appointment FIRST so I know I’ll be there. I look forward to having you as a partner in helping me to assure your child’s success!

Here are some things that you can do to help your child be successful:

  • provide a quiet place and time for daily study;
  • question your child about the concepts or ideas that are being discussed in class;
  • ask to see their homework or assignments, then ask them to tell you about it;
  • encourage your child to participate in class by asking questions ;
  • remind them of proper classroom manners and behaviors.Misbehavior will not be tolerated!

My email is nd my school phone number is (843) 782-0042, extension 52120. If you ever have any questions or concerns about your child while they are in my class, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Please take a minute to complete and sign the second sheet and have your child return it.Please keep this letter for future reference and contact information.

Sincerely,

Mr. Jerry D. Medlock
