Alphington Toy Library Guidelines

Philosophy of the Alphington Toy Library
The Alphington Toy library is committed to providing a large selection of quality toys and equipment for loan to members of the local community. The choice of toys will be such that non-violent, cooperative and creative play be encouraged.

Who are we?
The Alphington Toy Library is auspiced by the Alphington Community Centre. Staff from ACC oversee the operations of the toy library but you the member actually run the library by volunteering for rostered duty, helping out at working bees and fundraisers and offering other support such as IT or marketing help. Suggested hints to avoid losing toys –

3.  Keep toy library toys in a separate basket

4.  Confine toys to one room

5.  Don’t allow inside toys to be taken outside

6.  You may choose to put them away before visitors arrive

Cleaning of toys
Please clean any toys that are soiled – hot soapy water is recommended.

Rostered duty
As our organisation is run by our members- all members are required to do two rostered duties per year. Rostering duty is a great way to meet other families and help keep the toy library going and child are welcome to come and help too!

A list of your duties which includes setting up and packing up will be kept at the borrowing table and given to you when you put your name down.

Toys at Toy Library
Toys are not to be played with during the Toy Library session. This rule is enforced for the safety of younger children, OHS at our centre and also so our puzzles don’t get mixed up. We ask you to respect this rule and to please only play with toys at home.
