FROM THE THEME: “The realizable toy in the future”
ANNOUNCEMENT OF COMPETITION FOR THE SELECTION
ART. 1 – Aims and purposes
“RI-CREAZIONE” is the first biennial exhibition dedicated to recycling art, organised by Castelfranco Emilia townwith “’Associazione Amici dell’Arte”, aimednot only at the individualization of talented young emergent artists, but also at the divulgation and awakening towards an important theme: the recycling.The art can be therefore seen as a strategy to recover materials from the waste for the reutilization instead of disposal; disuse and uselessness symbols can become not only a work of art to appreciate and collect, but also playing – creative objects, as important educational instruments for children and important supports also forthe oldest. The theme of the I° Biennial will be “The realizable toy in the future”.
The RI.CREAZIONE competition awards prizesfor an amount of 3.500,00 Eurosand envisages the realization of exhibition events c/o Palazzo Piella of Castelfranco Emilia,the Modern Art Museum “Cà la Ghironda” of Ponte Ronca (Bo), the Galleria Punto Arte of Modena and some travelling exhibitions in some communes of Modena and Bologna and also the publication of the exhibition catalogue and the divulgation of prize-winner works by an internet portal.
ART. 2 – Requisites foradmission
The competition is opened for all Italian and foreign artists,from 18 to 35 years old. Also group works are admitted. (See.enclosure. A2)
ART. 3 – Works
Every artist who wants to participate will have to present a work with the following features:
*Theme and technique:
The theme: “the realizable toy in the future” can be: a group game, open-airgame, indoors game, cartoons game, educational game, game of skill, board game, memory gameetc...
The technique must necessarily included raw materials which can be recycled: wood, glass, paper and cardboard, fabrics, aluminium, steel, plastic materials like PET (polyethylene terephthalate ), HDPE (polythenehigher density), LDPE (polythenelower density), PVC (polyvinyl chloride), PP (polypropylene o moplen), PS (polystyrene), polymethylmethacrylate, polylactic acid, nylon and glass fibre)
All the biodegradable materialsare not admitted.
Dimensions: the measures of the works must not exceed cm150X150X150, while the measures are variable for the works made and prepared in place.
ART. 4 Participation form
To participate to the competition is necessary to present a work not later than 15 June 2008 (very important thepostmark) , as mentioned in the art.3, c/o Servizio Cultura del Comune of Castelfranco Emilia, Piazzale Curiel, 28 – 41013.
It also necessary send the participating form to the competition by e-mail or by recorded delivery letter with advice of delivery, filled and signed in each part, on the website: and the enclosures (A1 - A2 - B) because they areintegral parts.
It isalso necessary to send:
-A short biography(max 2000 types spacing included, with the address, phone number, e-mail address, general information,studies and exhibition activities carried out in artistic field );
- A colour photograph of the work in competition(minimum size cm. 15x11 – maximum size cm. 20x30) which will be examined by the jury. The photo will have to have on the back the name of the artist, the work title, the realization year, the detailed technique and measures.
- A short report concerning the reasons of the design of the toy(typology, materials, educational aims, target etc...) of max 3000 types spacing included;
- Sketches, drawings, models concerning the planning stages are at artist discretion;
- It is also appreciated a CD in Jpg or TIFF in addition of paper material.
*The above- mentioned documentation (included photos) will be kept in the secretary archives of the Biennial and will be not returned.
ART. 5 Selection and the awarding of prizes
-The selection of the works will be made by a prize-giving Commission consists of six expert persons of the field:
- Andrea Chiesi - artist
- Prof. Giorgio Celli: qualified university teacher of Entomology "Guido Grandi” - Università di Bologna.
- Prof. Francesco Martani: collector
- Enriko Fruggeri: manager o fan art gallery
- Katia Baraldi: art critic
- Lucy Salamanca: designer
The commission will proceed, within the end of June, to the examination of the worksand the selection ofthe 20Works, collected c/o theMuseo of Palazzo Piella of Castelfranco Emilia from the 25 of October to the 9 of November 2008.
The 20 selected works will be exhibit in aTravelling exhibition whichwill involve the ModernArt Museum “Cà la Ghironda” of Ponte Ronca (Bo), la Galleria Punto ArteofModenaand travelling exhibitions in some communes of Modena and Bologna
The results of the selection will be issued on the website the 1° of August 2008. The Commission will awardprizes , whose Art. 6, after having seen the finalist works.
ART. 6Enrolment fee
The payment ofenrolment fee must be deposited on the account n. 21543 - ABI 05188 - CAB 66690 - CIN IT41A of the Association “Amici dell’Arte” (PresidentMrs. Monica Simonini)
The feeis Euros15, 00for every work. The enrolment feeis 10, 00 Euros for every work for the students under 25 years old or enrolled to art schools and Academy of art
*The transport charges, packing andassurance to send the works in competition are charged to the participants.
ART. 7–Prizes awarding
- 1^ Prize: € 1.000,00 and a week-end (for two persons) in an European capital that the winner can choice (sponsored by Emozioni Emiliane Viaggi agencyof Castelfranco Emilia)and personal exhibition c/othe Galleria Punto Arte of Modena, for 10 days, inclusive of critical presentation , invitations, press releases in the main mastheads of the sector. There will be also a section in the portal dedicated completely to the winner artist.
- 2^ Prize: 1.000,00 €
- 3^ Prize:500,00 € + a purchase voucher of 300,00€ for art materials.
The photos of the 20 finalist works will be issued on the 15 of August 2008 and could be voteduntil the 15 of September 2008.The work which will receive more votes will be awarded a prize with a virtual gallery for 1 year in the portal above-mentioned.
ART. 8 Acceptances
The subscription ofthe rules involves the acceptance of the announcement regulations and of the Prizes mentioned in the Art.7. The prize-winning works will remain of property of authorities, Company or persons who will have placed at the disposal the prizes themselves. The organisation declines all responsibility for possible thefts, fires or damages of any natures to works and persons which can occur during all the stages of the event. , even if the organisation guarantees the greatest care of the works.
The artistsallow the organisation the copyrights of works and texts to make a catalogue, the recording of works and the publication through available means of communication.The artist also authorizesthe treatment ofpersonal dataaccording to the law 196/2003 “the Privacy law”.
The decisions of the prize-giving Commission are irrevocableand the competition participation involves the knowledge and the total acceptance of these regulations.
The artists will be always informed about any modifications or integrations of the announcement looking the internet portal
ART. 9Inauguration and prize-giving ceremony
The inauguration ceremony will beon Saturday 25 October 2008at 18, 00c/o Palazzo Piella – Corso Martiri, 204 of Castelfranco Emilia (Mo).
The mayor Sergio Graziosi of Castelfranco Emilia, the professor Giorgio Celli and the most important local authorities will be present at the prize-giving ceremony. The catalogue of the Biennial will be free handed out to those present.
