TRACY’S STORY

If you are a Mary Kay customer, I want to say thank you! You are helping your Independent Beauty Consultant to attain financial security and freedom. We love and value our customers!

I am passionate about teaching women how to be good stewards of the blessings that God has given them! A woman who is financially secure is a woman with freedom to make better choices. A woman who makes choices that are not based on her financial situation, but on her values and priorities – can teach her family and members of her community, to do the same. Those wise choices will lead to a circle of influence and a lasting legacy for generations to come.

My Mary Kay journey began in1992, when I became the most reluctant Beauty Consultant ever! My mother and I were Mary Kay customers – well, mom was a customer and she gave me free products because I couldn’t afford to buy any. When she decided to join her best friend’s Mary Kay team, I was quite excited. Of course I thought…free products for life! I was working at a non-profit agency, managing an employment program for people with disabilities. It was rewarding emotionally, but it didn’t pay much!

When mom asked me to be join her Mary Kay team, I said no…I don’t have time! I was also in graduate school because: what’s the first thing we think of when we want to make a change, but can’t figure out what to do? We go back to school! I was assured I only needed to find a couple of hours a week and I could make some much needed extra money. But fear held me back.

She asked me again and I said no…who would I sell to? Everybody we know is already your customer! I had three girlfriends. Period! I was assured that I would be taught how to find and keep customers. Fear and self-doubt continued to control me.

She asked a third time and I said, no…I don’t have the money to get started! My husband Mike was a full-time student and only worked on the weekends. So, my step-dad offered to give me the money! Mike filled out the beauty consultant agreement, put a pen in my hand, and said: maybe you can get us some tax breaks and make an extra $50 a week so we can see a movie & get a pizza or something! He saw me as someone much more capable than I ever felt I could be.

I thought…Easy for him to say. I’ll be lucky to even sell $50! Who will ever take me seriously as a beauty consultant? I don’t even wear makeup! But…I was trapped!

At my first Mary Kay event, I sat in the back of the room with my arms folded, thinking nobody could be this happy! My poor mom has joined a cult…and now I’m in it, too! However, the warmth and genuine love that was shown, quickly won me over. By the end of the night, I was clapping my hands and cheering with the rest of the ladies! And I haven’t stopped!

Despite my mom’s serious health challenges, we enjoyed seven fun filled years together as a Mother-Daughter Mary Kay team before she passed away. In the last year of her life, I was able to spend all the time I wanted with her…because Mary Kay had become a full-time career for me! In my fifth year with the company, I earned the use of my first Career Car, matched my income and quit my job, thanks to this opportunity! I have currently earned Eight Career Cars, beautiful jewelry, and Cinderella prizes galore. My husband and I enjoy traveling Mary Kay style and we’ve made lasting friendships throughout our Mary Kay journey.

Shortly after my mom’s passing, I was able to take a more active role in helping my cousin Deneen with her four children. She was a single parent and the “baby sister” I never had. She had become totally disabled after many years of living with muscular dystrophy and my flexible schedule allowed me to do all the “mom” things that she physically could no longer do.

One night I got a phone call. It was my cousin Deneen. Her oldest daughter was going into labor and she wanted me to be at the hospital; to literally take her place at the birth of her first grandchild. In one of our last conversations, I promised that I would always be there for her children and grandchildren. After years of suffering through depression because I couldn’t have kids of my own, I realized that God had other plans for me!

Besides the flexibility, my Mary Kay income has allowed me to provide our family with extras, like dance and voice lessons, prom dresses, pageant gowns, vacations, a beautiful dream wedding, and now, I’m getting to spoil the grandbabies! More importantly, I want to pass on the strong work ethic and positive outlook that my mom gave me.

When my mother told me she was in poor health and saw Mary Kay as something she could pass down to me, I didn’t get it at first. I realized later that she indeed, was passing on a legacy. I want to do the same thing for the next generation of our family!

You know, most of us don’t have an inheritance, or a trust fund, or even a family business that we know will provide us with a lasting security. Mary Kay has been that and more for my family. And it can be the same for yours! I truly believe that the Mary Kay opportunity is the very best and most supportive environment for a woman to use her God-given talents to the fullest.

A woman who is using her gifts, her time, and her talents to the fullest will bless others – because the more blessings we are given, the more we can give to others!

My question to you is: are you ready for a change? The first step is simply to take the first step! You may have questions or concerns about how a Mary Kay business can fit into your life. Or, you may be ready to begin your own journey by becoming an Independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultant today! Please contact me or your Consulant and we will take the next step together.

Thank you!

Tracy
