HW - Comic strip to show the 7 steps of the Theory of Natural Selection:
You have in your notes the 7 steps of Darwin’s theory of natural selection. You can find additional details in your text book on pg 378 - . You will be using these to create an 8 panel comic strip showing the steps of evolution according to Charles Darwin.
1)Use only 8x10 printer paper for this (not binder paper)
2)Divide the paper into 8 panels – you may do 4 on one side and 4 on the back
3)Choose any animal and ONE trait on that animal to show in this comic strip
(Note: you should research where the animal lives, what is eats, what its environment looks like in the wild, and choose a trait that you know will give it a survival advantage)
4)The first panel will be the title – ‘How a new species (name of animal) evolved by Natural selection according to Charles Darwin’.
5)The other panels 2 – 8 will show each of the seven steps of the theory of natural selection (Overpopulation, Variation, Change in Environment, Struggle for existence, Survival of the fittest, Inheritance of the trait, Speciation)
6)Title each panel with what it is showing. Use the animals and call outs (like a comic book) to explain in clear sentences what is happening in that panel.

8)Make it colorful and remember – this comic strip must be able to convey to a lay person all the steps of the theory of natural selection clearly.
