HUNTSVILLE CITY BOARD OF EDUCATION

FEBRUARY 2, 2012

The Huntsville City Board of Education met in the boardroom on the above date at 5:30 p.m. Members present were the President, Ms. Laurie McCaulley; Vice President, Mr. David Blair; Ms. Alta Morrison; Dr. Jennie Robinson; and Mr. Topper Birney. A quorum was present. Also present were the Superintendent, Dr. Casey Wardynski; members of the central office staff; and interested citizens.

The meeting was opened by the President.

During the Superintendent Celebration, Dr. Barbara Cooper presented resolutions to:

Emma Stowe – Huntsville Middle School

Donte Brock, Alex Cole, Zack Hobbs, Orlando Garcia, Kelli Little and Justin Traglia – New Century Technology High School

Mark Mincher – Huntsville High School Baseball Coach

Resolution proclaiming February 1-29, 2012 as Career and Technical Education Month

Also as part of the celebration, Dr. Wardynski recognized the Huntsville High Cyber Patriot Team who made it to round three.

The Superintendent recommended approval of the resolutions.

Mr. Birney moved to approve, seconded by Dr. Robinson, and carried.

MINUTES

The minutes of January 19 and 20 (4 sets), 2012 were approved as written.

CONSENT AGENDA

The Superintendent recommended approval of the Consent Agenda consisting of the following items:

  1. Temporary Agreements
  2. Gifts to Schools

Mr. Blair moved to approve, seconded by Dr. Robinson, and carried.

PROBATIONARY PRINCIPAL EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT

HIGH SCHOOL TO BE ASSIGNED AT A LATER DATE

The Superintendent recommendedapproval of the Probationary Principal Employment Contract for Michael Campbell. High School to be assigned at a later date.

Mr. Blair moved to approve, seconded by Dr. Robinson, and carried.

PROBATIONARY PRINCIPAL EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT

LEE HIGH SCHOOL

The Superintendent recommended approval of the Probationary Principal Employment Contract – Lee High School for Kevin Wieseman.

Mr. Blair moved to approve, seconded by Dr. Robinson, and carried.

HUMAN RESOURCES REPORT

The Superintendent recommended approval of the Human Resources Report dated February 2, 2012.

Dr. Robinson moved to approve, seconded by Mr. Blair, and carried.

CAREER READINESS PROGRAM COURSES FEE

The Superintendent recommended approval of assessing fees to the Career Readiness Program Courses.

Mr. Blair moved to approve, seconded by Dr. Robinson, and carried.

REVISED ELECTRONIC DEVICES POLICY 106-7

The Superintendent recommended approval of the Revised Electronic Devices Policy

106-7.

Mr. Blair moved to approve, seconded by Dr. Robinson, and carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:40p.m.
