Humble ISD “CTE”
Trailer Use Regulations Updated 5/14/09
- Trailers should be used by teachers and district staff. Under certain circumstances a trailer may be checked out by a responsible adult when the following requirements have been met.
- A current copy of the parent’s proof of liability insurance must be on file in the Agriculture Science office before a trailer can be used. (This person must be the driver).
- An adult must be the driver.
- The trailers are used for the sole use of transporting animals to the vet, Humble ISD sanctioned shows, over-all care of the animals, as determined by the Ag. Teacher, and for the pick up and/or delivery of a show animal that falls under the guidelines of a Humble ISD sectioned show.
II.Any trailers or equipment checked out must be returned in the same condition as when checked out, this should include the condition of the tires, any damages to the trailers, cleaning trailer out, wiring harnesses, over-all condition/appearance, etc.
This will help insure the trailer will be ready for the next user when someone goes to get it. If damages or break downs do occur, the parent(s) are responsible to communicate those issues to the Agriculture teacher immediately upon return or prior to return and are responsible for the repair cost, otherwise privileges to use trailer may be lost.
III.Trailers should be kept in a secured area behind the facility gates and locked by a locking device as to restrict the use to those that have permission to use trailer and have proof of liability insurance on file as explained in #I above. This will also help secure the trailer as well as aide in prevention of theft and/or unlawful use.
IV.Teachers are to take appropriate measures to maintain and inspect all trailers under their supervision, on a regular schedule. Funds may be used from Facility accounts, activity accounts, boosters, etc. to assist in the maintenance and up keep of the equipment.
V.Specialty trailers like the dump trailer, Auto tow trailer, utility trailers, etc. should be used for school business and activities.
- District exempt plates should never be traded out from one trailer to another. We ask the every department supply the CTE office with a picture of all district trailers showing license plate number (that is visible), with a brief description of each trailer, how long, type of hitch, (as bumper or goose neck style), brand name, Trailer I.D #, etc. to assist in maintaining district records.
VII.Teachers should notify CTE office, Dr. Morris, Ms. Kaizer, or Mr. Wagener, Police Dept. and any one else responsible in the event of an accident, damage, or any injury pertaining to district trailers, trucks, and equipment.
